Epson WF-3520 printer, cannot recognize ink cartridges ?

the above error message came up during printing of multiple pages and I tried everything online to check cartridges and my cartridges are fine and it must be the printer. I also cleaned contacts in printing box and cartridges, still same error message (for black but also sometime for magenta). Any other ideas or is my printer toast? Guy at computer store said if printer head, then not worth it, just get another one. Any magic ideas here? Thank you.
 
yup, probably the print head, not worth it. could try cleaning that, and if its removable reseat it.
 
Why would it say cannot recognize ink cartridges if the problem was the print head? Why not just say print head problems?
 
I took out all cartridges and put a couple drops of distilled water on black and magenta nozzles, then put all cartridges back and got the printer to not give any errors. Doing a head cleaning and maybe that does the trick (fingers crossed).

because its loosing "communication" with the cart? idk, im not epson.
hopefully the cleaning will help....
