epson c62 kills machine

I got a system at work im trying to work with. Its WIN2K with an epson c62 printer. It prints ok once and then if you try to goto the printer control panel or do anything the driver for the printer (i know this looking in the task manager) locks the machine with near 100% cpu usage. I then have to CTRL ALT DEL to close it. Is there anyway i can get just the print driver and no print monitor? I tried to install it without all the other stuff but u have no choice.

I have a c40 at home. I downloaded the driver separately from Epson's web site. Did you check there already?
 
yeah. the driver comes packaged with a status monitor. The DLL for this program is what is hanging the machine.
