I was playing NWN2 last night a few hours from about 9pm to 1am. Everything went great had no issues at all with computer. When I was done I shutdown computer normal. Wife before works she normally goes online to check bank account if she needs to. This morning she turned computer on and it will not boot. Don't even get any beep codes. On the MB just the FF code is displayed right away. I think that's the code for a normal boot. Only time I get a sound from the MB is when I take video card out. I take the memory out and get no beep codes. Do I have a bad MB all of a sudden?

I turn it on nothing happens. I remove the vidoe card and that is when I get sound from board. I don't understand it it ran great last night. ok the post code FFh or CFh direct from MB book state;

problem 1. BIOS chip inserted incorrectly 2. Incorrect BIOS update version. 3. Mainboard problem 4. Add-on inserted incorrectly. 1 and 2 definately not it. I doubt it is # 4 but possible one of the card might cause this. I tried my old agp card same result nothing happens. possible its the sound card but thing went great last night.

The MB is not OC at all. I tried resetting the BIOS same result FF code.

Remove all power connections except video and MB removed the cmos battery for a minute or 2 put battery back in still get same result. is it possible the CPU could be bad.

oh boy. i had this mobo once........bad. needless to say it's dead. mine didn't last more than a day and then i bought a second one wich was DOA......i gave up and bit the bullet.bought an Asus A8n-E and could not have been more at peace:)

Mine worked for over a year. I am sending it back to get it RMA repaired. when I get it back it goes up on Ebay to the highest bidder. I am going Crossfire or SLI. PCIE

Im glad to see im not the only one that has premature board failures with epox. As a system builder with my own company i have had way to many epox failures compared to asus,abit,gigabyte and msi. Between epox and dfi it seems like my luck is to have board failures inside of 1 year. I read so many good things about both brands but in my experience building computer systems for home users and small offices neither of them last very long. Its not that they are o/clocked either as most are running stock speeds with high quality power supplies.
This is just a general observation from my experience as I do read many posts about how many guys just love these brands and have boards for years. With the amount of systems i build in a year it just seems its more than bad luck though.
Another observation is when i use asus,abit,msi that i very seldom ever have a bad motherboard at all. Not saying no failures but very very few. Overall though asus seems to be the best. As a businessman i look for longevity because i dont have the time to go over to a home every time one of my systems fails to boot due to a board failure, Id go broke if i only used epox and dfi...Oh well i dont mean to flame them its just my experience. In my own systems ive used both brands and they have been good o/clockers but I only run a system for 6 months or so. Long term builds dont hold up for me.......

I have an EPoX 8rda+ that has lasted way longer than I thought it would(4 years) and is still running, although it has finally developed bad caps. Due to its reliability I have installed 2 EPoX 9NPA3 Ultra's in the past three months. I sure hope they don't die suddenly, as one of the systems has already been fixed once(replaced a bad TYAN NF4 board that only lasted 8 months).

RMAing the board if it comes back ok it will allow me some time to get 300 together for a new board and GPU gonna go with Abit or Asus.

If possible try swapping out cpus. Dont rma it yet, keep checking, mobo problems can be be tricky.

I had that board do some great ocing for me and lasted longer than i expect boards too. Also had an 8rda+, and a 9npa3 ultra that runs like a champ. I will only buy epox.

Maybe you've had good luck with Abit and MSI simply due to the fact that they either had their asses handed to them or will get their asses handed to them in court due to class action lawsuits... Getting their noses rubbed in their own crap in a court of law seems to help bring up the quality of a mass produced comsumer product...

I'm sure it's a board problem. RMA it.... but good luck. A buddy of mine had to RMA his socket 754 Epox board. It took forever to come back and now he's having different problems than before. His brother has a socket 939 Epox board, and he thinks it's the greatest. I was thinking of trying an Epox, but now I'm on the fence about it.

I've used FIC, Gigabyte, Asus, Biostar and currently DFI boards. FIC fell to the wayside. I popped 4 Gigabyte boards in 3 months a few years ago. Asus has has been pretty solid, but I did have one go bad on me ( while I was playing BF1942 ). The one Biostar board I've used has been rock solid for over 3 years. And, the DFI is in my current gamer.

got board back. They sent me a new board got it the other day. Things been ok. been getting some flaky video issues now though. Was not having video issues before I sent board back. I am thinking maybe I should have just gotten another board. Think I am going to wait for prices to gop down a some more on PCIE GPU and upgrade to that next. give wife this MB and GPU.
