eo stepping - what is it?

I hear a lot of people on here talking about eo stepping.

What exactly is it and how can it benefit me?

newest rev of the 45nm cpu's. sse 4.1, slightly more efficient, minor improvements like that. nothing spectacular, but if you have a choice between c0 and e0, always take the e0.

It's essentially the latest model of the same design. A little better in all ways but nothing too spectacular.

Also, I think (hope) that ALL Q9650 are E0 stepping - some Q9550 will be E0 at some point.

So does a better stepping mean better performance? If so how much? Is it even 1%?

i am geting about 5 to 10% better overclocks. by better, i mean higher, but i max my cpu's out. i dont just "well i got 4ghz thats good for me" type stuff. that whole 4ghz thing has been done. trying to get 5ghz, before nehalem comes out and we cant overclock intel anymore. and as soon as amd sees that intel is having success with locked fsb and locked multipliers, we wont be able to overclock amd either.

I thought that whole nehalem won't overclock thing was sort out and it won't be any different than what we have now.
