What's the market for drives such as Western Digital's RE4-GP? Since they can be used in RAID they can provide a large storage pool with lower running costs than their 7K RPM cousins, but to what uses are they put?
To my mind their access times are too high for database work or video on demand applications, or anything with a large amount of random I/O. I can see them being used for disk-to-disk backups and Virtual Tape Libraries, where access is mostly sequential, but what else?
