Finally I got my 4850 OC'ed to 825/1100 after changing the stock cooler to Thermalright's HR-03 GT. With the stocker cooler (it does the job well IMO), I was able to hit 750/1100 stable before, and my temp was at constant ~95C + 50% fan setting under full load.

With the new cooler pairing a 1600rpm 92mm fan, the chip runs quiet and cool @ 60C full load, and I gained 75MHz in core speed. The tiny MEM/VRM heatsinks were causing some heat problem at first, then it was resolved after I placed a 80mm fan blowing directly over them.

In the end I achieved massive 200MHz OC on my air cooled 4850.

Here is my 3dmark06 comparing link - 15009 points.

Did you do any voltmods/upped voltage in BIOS? Well, actually I'm quite sure you did so the real question is how much did you raise it?

Oh, I almost forgot. Is there any way to go past 700MHz lock without flashing BIOS every time you want to change GPU clock? Something that would work with CCC or similar software?

PS. I love how ORB lists i7 920 as "common system" >.<

Ya, I did the pencil mod, vgpu is at 1.36v.

You can use rivatuner to adjust GPU clock past 700MHz, it works well for me. I use it in conjunction with Ati tool to check stability.

850/1300 on a 4850x2

Holy smokes... 850 core is already good, but 1300 on the DDR3 memory?

Does that encroach upon 4870x2 territory performance? I hope you have the 2GB model.

I'm running my 4850 at 700/1130, but stock volts and an accelero s1 rev2 + 120mm fan. I have no games which benefit from more... except Crysis, which I don't play.
