If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out Stanford’s patent pending interface software that uses only your eyes, you really should give this a read. Imagine using your eyes to switch programs, scroll up and down web pages, pointing and selecting applications and even entering passwords.

EyePassword™ allows gaze-based password/pin entry. It prevents shoulder surfing and does not generate any keyboard and mouse events making it more difficult to use standard event loggers. EyeSaver™ turns on the screen saver when a user looks away from the screen and automatically turns off the screensaver when the user looks back at the screen.

This is awesome news. Now i dont have to lift a single fat sweaty sausage finger to play WOW and put them to what god intended them to be used for, pushing pizza and cake down my 32 inch neck and brushing cheetos off my 'F' cup man breasts.:p

Thanks, needed a good laugh!

Without reading much into the article, I find it hard how this is going to be economical (read: cheap).

As if sitting in front of a computer for hours at a time didn't make me feel slimey as it is....now this! >.<

Manu used to be in the office next to mine before he finished his PhD.

The scrolling read, i.e. EyeScroll, was actually my favorite experience and it "just worked". The password entry system was pretty slick as well since that would prevent "shoulder surfing" at ATMs or computers. Cost would currently be an issue, but like many other things, if these were made in volume, they wouldn't need to be that expensive. You could also sacrifice processing power to make up for worse sensing accuracy.

It's mouse gestures for the eyes. So what's wrong with using the mouse, untill they make a eye tracking pointing and then just use gestures?

This would eliminate my shoulder problems (chronic pain) I developed after years of continuous use of mouse.

I think the system would be pretty cheap, doesn't it only need half decent camera and the software in question?

I don't need RSI on my eyes, thank you. :p
But this definitely won't alleviate wrist/hand injuries. Now people can fap to their porn collection without the distraction of having to mouse between pictures.

I think it'll be cheap too. HP never increased the price of their laptops with the fingerprint scanner. It's just infrared with a sensor and a bit of software.

Hope they don't use lasers :p

"WARNING! DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO LASER!
Please look into laser for user verification."

It's a pretty cool idea, but I can't see it taking off (read: getting cheap soon), Take touch screens for example. There still many times as expensive as the equivalent screen. Which is a shame, there's loads of ways touch screens beat a mouse at interaction apart from just EPOS.

Big bucks for any criminal(s) smart enough to develop an Eyelogger. :p

Beware the Webcam! Sure as sh!t somebody is reverse engineering this to use your web cam to record your eye movments! Although I'm not sure about the FPS of web cams, as I don't use one.

Yeah, but it will enable them to switch hands while fapping! Although as they near the point of release and their eyes roll back:rolleyes:, they may end up changing web pages to something of another "pervsuasion" as their better half walks in to the room!

Just a thought! :D

I'm sure you wouldn't have to put your eye on anything...
Would be fun to play an fps with this.

This will never happen; it would be too easy to spread virii/trojans. If you look at the left hooter you're infected... Nuh uh..

If this actually works perfectly ..... video gaming could really be real; thought provoking throught the eyes could be a programmer's nightmare :D
