I am in the process of putting together a new PC with a Antec Sonata 1 case. Do you think the included power supply (True380) would be adequate enough to safely power these components.

A8N-SLI Deluxe
A64 Venice 3800+
TT Silent Boost
2x512 Corsair Value Ram PC3200
Asus Radeon X800 XL
FDD
2 DVD drives
2 SATA Seagate Barracudas in Raid 0
SB Audigy 2 ZS

So what do you think? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
 
Are you sure it is a TruePower not a TruePower II? The Sonata's are supposedly shipping with TPII's now but I haven't seen this in person.
 
I'm not exactly certain. In the newegg.com forums, some people stated that TPIIs are being used. I am new to PSU specs so any explanation of why this setup is or is not OK would be great.

I would say that it is enough juice....

I have the 430 version, and 2800+ Dualies, and I've NEVER had any problems with power....

Mine has 26A

Well ideally you don't want to use a 20pin PSU with a 24pin board. They will work(most of the time) but it isn't ideal. A TPII PSU is a fully ATX12v2.0 PSU so it has a 24pin ATX connector, dual 12v's, no -5v, etc. This works better for isolating load placed on the system by high demand items like the CPU and the videocard. What you have listed should work with either the TP or TPII.....but if it were me I would get a different PSU if it doesn't come with a TPII. I am very conservative though. If you really want I can post the breakdown of what your draws are going to be on each rail to see how you determine which PSU to get.
 
I would really appreciate that. I tried using the HOW TO BUY A PSU thread that is stickied but I still lacked understanding of how PSU's really work. By the way, I want to have some headroom just in case I decide to add a HD or get 2 GPUs someday.

The bolded part kills the the current psu's listed then. I'll post a screen cap of what your's should have looked like from the calculator. Give me a sec.
 
Ok you should have seen something like this. Where models weren't specified I used the highest draw item in class to be safe:



This represents your absolute worst case draw totaling 15 amps on the 5v, 23 amps on the 12v, and 5 amps on the 3.3v.

Now looking at this it seems aweful close to the rated 380w......which is kind of why I would hope for a TPII as it will be more heavily weighted to the 12v.....but remember this is the worst case draw. You should plan for this but realistically you won't hit this often/or maybe even ever.
 
^ Two GPUs would go over that limit while gaming, best to get a more powerful PSU now.
