I ordered a Lian-Li PC-V1000 which should be arriving tomorrow. I have been trying to think of what I wanted to do with the case in terms of modding and such. I was thinking about engraving the aluminum side panel with something doom3 or HL2 related. I know I could do this on a window with out much trouble, but I don't really want a window because in my opinion windows have been overdone recently. My questions are: Has anyone ever heard of or seen something like this being done and does anyone know a place that would do a custom engraving thing like this. It would be amazing if any of you guys knew a place near Atlanta GA so I wouldn't have to ship it off. Thanks.

Try looking in your phone books yellow pages for places that do engraving, specifically laser engraving. Most of the engraving that's done anymore is done by a machine. Depending on the place they may have a machine that can be programmed to engrave pictures as well as words. The only problem you may run into is how large a piece the machine can work on. The phone book would be your best source of info to locate a place near you.

This place may be able to help as well. http://www.clearsky24.com/custom engraving.htm Send them an e-mail.

Good luck. :)

some of that engraving is done with ither lasers or sandblasting, its normialy not done by just engraving acrylic with a dremel bit or with a vibrating engraver. It can be expensive to get something elabrate done.

The best thing to do is find a good local shop and make friends with the owner. Drive in more customers and he'll give you a discount. These shops live off of word of mouth.

Be nice if I was closer. We have a laser engraver at work and I did up the side of my kids PC-60 pretty sweet like. Vector drawings are the best overall, since you can resize them and don't have to worry about loosing detail. Sharp grey scale and line art are good too. Only thing I really try to avoid is images with light shading as you can sort of see in the 3rd image. If all else fails find your graphics then PM me and we can hook something up.

Here's a pic of my kids and my shuttle that i did up. Oh the laser don't do colors I used a marker to fill the etch in then wiped it off leaving a tint to the etch.
