I have an EG425P-VE SFMA power supply and I noticed last night that the 9 cm fan (the fan that pulls air into the psu) was not turning. The 8 cm fan does spin and the psu is delivering power to the system. Is this normal? The case temperature was about 37C. I know the fans are temperature regulated, does any one know if the intake (9 cm) fan only work at higher temperatures?

I have never seen the 92mm fan not turning on my Enermax PSU's even at low temps (and I have several, and put the one you have in a relative's system). I would shut down and unplug the system, then try to turn the fan with a ballpoint pen. If it is sluggish, you know the motor has siezed up. If it turns easily, you may need to have the PSU checked out, as the connections to the fan may be an issue.

One other thing you can try is turning the knob in the back of the PSU that controls fan speed. Up it to high, turn the system on, then see if the 92mm starts up.
 
Both fans should be spinning at all times. They may slow down depending on thermal load, but they should always be spinning.
 
Thanks for the advice. I tried turning the 9 cm fan with and it is definitely sluggish compared to the 8 cm output fan. It moves, but not freely like the other fan. Should I try to RMA the sucker, or is their a simple fix that I can do?
 
Depends on how handy you are. You could replace it......but you do void your warranty.....oh wait if you are on the [H] you are required to void all warranties within the first 30minutes of firing up a build.
 
The fix is simple, but voids the warranty on the PSU.

You can take the PSU apart (wait until after it's been turned off and disconnected from power for, say 48 hours), and solder a new 92mm fan in place, preferably a lower-noise model like a Panaflo. Take the PSU apart before ordering a new fan so you know whether you want a 2-wire or 3-wire (probably a 2-wire) fan. If the thought of working with high-voltage equipment makes you nervous, don't try this at home.

If you wish to keep your 3-year warranty intact, RMA the power supply.
 
Again, thanks for the tips. I think I'll just RMA it since it's been less than 30 days from purchase at NewEgg. Call me a wimp, but my wife will be pissed if I electrocute myself!
