My Enermax has a faulty monitor IC PS223 and I cant find one for love or money.

If anyone has any idea whet I might get this device I'd appreciate it greatly.

The device is made by SITI and is used in a number of PSU inc Enermax, ANtec, and SIlverStone.

If anyone has a deas PSU that they can salvage the IC from I'd be interested in chatting about the logistics of such as I am in Australia but have relatives in the US.
 
haha... I've got a SITI PS223 here in a PSU that has to go to a customer... but none just "laying around".

Let me see if I can find on for you.
 
any news on the availability of a PS223?

I am just about to build a new system and if I cannot fix this PSU I'll have to buy another :mad:
 
No. Getting ready to leave for Taiwan so I'm not going to have a chance to look for one in over a week... unless I find one in Taiwan. ;)
 
I have finally got some good news on the PSU...



The Fairchild SG6520 is a direct replacement for the PS223 so have a couple on order from Mouser elec in the US and should have them in a couple weeks
 
I have installed the new IC and on the bench, the PSU turns on but when installed in the 'old' PC with the GA-K8NF9 it will not power up unless I manually short pin 16 to ground...

The weird thing is that the PSU works just fine in my new rig with the GA-EP35DS3R powers on/off as expeced. Even weirder is that the other PSU works just fine in both the 'old' and 'new' PC's...

Are you saying that the enermax PG signal is either not getting high enough or not being generated quickly enough to keep the MoBo enabled?


I did note that the PG signal on the Enermax PSU was lower than on the Coolermaster PSU bu I have not checked timing and without the recommended gizmo or a cro I cant just now....

I measured the voltages on both systems in OFF state.

EP35 with Enermax (repaired PSU) PS_ON = 3.6VDC, 5VSB = 4.65VDC,

Press power ON button, PS_ON 0.06VDC, 5VSB = 4.65VDC, PGO = 2.65VDC

K8NF-9 (original MoBo) with Coolermaster PSU PS_ON = 5VDC, 5VSB = 5.05VDC,

Press power ON button, PS_ON 0.06VDC, 5VSB = 5.05VDC, PGO = 5.05VDC

With the Enermax on the K8NF-9, PS_ON was 5.0VDC and stayed at 5.0VDC when I pressed the power ON button...


This would suggest that not all MoBo's have the same requirement for PG signalling??
 
The voltage could be off... the signal could be too short....

It looks like your +5VSB is pretty low. The green PS_ON lead I'm not so concerned with, but PWR_GOOD is the grey wire that actually tells the board the PSU is "ready" to fire up. That's the one to check. The signal is only about 350 or 400ms, so you'll need a logging DMM to check it if you can't get your hands on one of those Coolmax PSU testers.
 
The Fairchild SG6520 is a pin for pin and functional replacement for the PS223. Available from Mouser Electronics.

Works a tread too.
