Enermax over-engineering at its best.

Sure lots of companies are sloppy at setting their OCP points, and with that unit Enermax barely stayed in specification for the high end required OCP set point on the 12v rails per the EPS spec. It isn't really a good thing or over engineering per se though even if Chris says it is. Any particular reason you dug up a more than 1 year old review about this?

Most of the high end expensive units. Antec signature series, a few corsair's and pretty much every seasonic ever made. If by over engineering you mean exceeds expectations even at full load, that is.

Just to see what others thinks about this, so you don't agree with chris, I'm interested in its reply. :)

And he didn't list the efficiency, voltage regulation, or ripple at those levels, so that doesn't help. For all we know, the PSU could go way out of spec and damage your hardware before it shuts off. That would be a good thing how exactly?

That is one reason I like the PSU reviews on Hardware Secrets as well. They overload them to check cutoffs and check ripple etc when overloaded. One of the primary reasons I got my 750HX was because of their review.

Gabe doesn't always check ripple in his overload tests, and he will often keep loading a PSU even after its ripple has gone out of spec just to see how far it will go before shutting down or failing.
