well , i am not sure where i should post this, this is related to cooling and PSU and HTPC. Any help is appreciated.

i have an enermax noisetaker 475W PSU in a silverstone lc-10b HTPC case. PSU is great. but the vents in the PSU pushes the hot air back into the case and hence increasing the case temp. how can i avoid this? can i cover those vents? if so then what do i use?

I have a Noisetaker 470w PSU myself. I'm not sure I understand how hot air could be coming back in. Mine has two fans (one 92mm intake, one 80mm exhaust).

Does your PSU have front vents facing the back of the CD-ROM drive? I thought Enermax didn't have that for the Noisetaker line, but if this is the case, you could open the PSU and line that section with clear plastic (like the kind that used to be part of those slide-lock report covers you used when you were a kid), since it's non-conducting and takes little space.

yes it has vents that opens to the back of the cdrom. it does push fairly good amount of hot air into the system. i have 2 60mm exhaust and they are all low cfm fans for low noise.

like lone wolf said, just cover those vents with that plastic report cover stuff and some two sided tape. you could even do it on the outside of the PSU to avoid having to open the box and void its warranty. that should then direct all hot air out the rear of the PSU and case.

heck, get ghetto on it and use some duct tape or clear packing tape. it is inside the case so who cares what it looks like.

If you wana get ghetto then use some silicon sealant on EVER vent, crap and opening in that PSU. That would be the best way to go! Yeah it will look like crap, yet seal out most the free flowing heat.

Yeah, this is exactly what I've done with my noisetaker 600w. Also did it to my Antec 480w. In both cases it improved the airflow with the unit itself and made it cooler and hence quieter due to the smart fan they both have.

Whoever thinks it's a great idea to put those vent holes there doesn't really understand case airflow well enough, they just make things worse.
