Enermax MODU82+ 625w - Enermax is a name that carries a lot of weight with enthusiasts and the company is stepping out with a new mid-wattage PSU that delivers 625 watts plus a whole lot of marketing claims. But what about good clean power? We find out.

This dichotomy results in a power supply that while excellent seems a bit short of being the absolute best it could be especially given its somewhat steep pricing of $149 after MIR. However, when this unit is good it is so good it we would be remiss if we did not recommend the MODU82+ 625w to users looking for a good performing, quiet, modular power supply in this output range.

Yes, quietness would be the determining factor. Looks like I may have found a new psu for my htpc/file server

Well it is the quietest unit I have had in so far so it would be a god fit.

but still not as good as the BFG ES-800 you reviewed a few weeks ago I gather.

I purchased a 425 watt Modu82+ based on the SPCR review of the 625 watt unit. SPCR gave the Modu82+ their highest recommendation. In my near silent computer the Modu82+ fan spins at a low 463 RPM and is inaudible.

I have the 625w unit in my near silent rig, and it is essentially silent (the reason I bought it). I can't even hear it with my ear right next to the exhaust area. Power output is high, especially on the 12v rails, almost like they are trying to keep some headroom, all though in spec.

Overall, it can't be beat for silence in it's power range. Just don't expect it to exhaust any air other than what it needs, I believe it only ramps the fan up according to power draw, not temp.

meh...good review and all, but i am unimpressed except for the low noise which is just a fan. i mean $160 bucks seems too expensive. i would rather have a pc&pc silencer 850 or corsair 750w for less. guess enermax has always been on the expensive side though...
