I have an Enermax Liberty 500w power supply, and a sapphire 1900xt 512, when i plug the card in directly to the power supply with the designated cord, i get power issue beeps from the motherboard (repeating short beeps). but if i plug a molex into the adapter it works fine. It has been stable for a while now and havent had any issues, i would just like to free up a molex.

Might be the dedicated PCIE power has a fault in it from the power supply. But that is just a theory. Have the PSU tested.

I have the Enermax Liberty 500watt and a Radeon X1800XT 512meg video card. I have no problems at all with my setup. Just make sure you are plugging the PCI-E into one of the Red connectors. I don't like how all the connectors are the same, makes it hard to see where to plug what into where when it is kinda dark inside the case.

while playing around with it, if i plugged into the second PCI-E port on the power supply it booted up once with no boots, but never again.

Am i putting anything in jepordy by having the molex go through the connector?

Not exactly sure what your saying with the "Am I putting anything in jepordy by having the molex go through the connector?" comment. If your talking about useing the 4 pin molex and an adapter, No you wont hurt anything. The binefit of useing a dedicated PCI-e connector is that it will use both 12v rails to power the Video card, useing a molex you will only use one rail. About the only card I would not suggest doing this with is the Geforce 7950 GX2. Just about everything else will work fine on a single rail.

i decided to play around with it a little more, and i plugged the PCI-E cord in and it worked with out a problem. So i dont know what happened but i guess it fixed it self.
