hello
I am building the following system:
CASE THERMALTAKE SOPRANO
ASUS P5B DELUXE WI-FI
CORE 2 DUO 6600
2GB CORSAIR 800 MHZ
WD RAPTOR 150GB
SEAGATE BARRACUDA 320gb
NEC DVD RW (SATA)
ASUS DVD ROM(SATA)
EVGA 8800 GTS 320MB
SOUNBLASTER X-FI GAMER
ENERMAX LIBERTY 500W

Do you think enermax 500w is not enough?
Am i going to have trouble when playing a game?
Is 8800 gts 320mb compatible with the 500watt liberty? (i mean does it give 30A on the 12v rail?)
thanks in advance

extreme watt calculator says peak power 495 watt (everything at full load ). Thats what makes me think I propably made a mistake...

I'd wouldn't be too stingy on the power perspective. Go with a 620W corsair psu. :)

the problem is I've already bought enermax 500w but I am asking if it's a big mistake and if am I going to face problems during heavy overloads(restarts etc...)

I was sure 500watts was ok for a non-sli system but now I dont know what to do

I have 3 liberty 500w power supplies and have had no problems.

Machine 1 is A8NSLI Premium with FX-55 @ 2.8Ghz, 2G of ram, 36G raptor, 2 80G WD sata II drives, Sony dvdrw+, Sony cdrw+, 7800GTX, 2 120mm fans, 1 80mm fan, 1 92mm fan, cold cathode light kit

Machine 2 is A8N32SLI Deluxe with 3800X2 @ 2.6Ghz, 2G of ram, 36G raptor, 2 80G WD Sata II drives, Sony cdrw+, Nec dvdrw+, 2 6600GT in SLI, 4 80 mm fans, 2 92 mm fans, cold cathode light kit

Machine 3 is A8R32MVP with Opty 185 @ 3.2Ghz, 4G of ram, 36G raptor, 2 74G raptors, Sony dvdrw+ drive, 8800 GTS 640, 4 120 mm fans, 1 80 mm fan, 1 DDC+ ( 18w version) water pump. cold cathode light kit, led feet kit,

Machines 1+2 were water cooled at one time now they are air cooled. Oldest powersupply is in Machine 1 which is around 2 yrs old. Machine 2 is just over a year old. and Machine 3 is about a month old. I have never had any problems with power supplies at all. Hope that information helps you out

thanks alot dcds1 .. (i am feeling a lot better now)
I was really sure about the quality of enermax liberty 500 and thats the reason i chose it...
Do you know anything about the 30A on the 12v output rail that nvidia recommends for 8800 gts?
I am asking because from the specs of the liberty I see 22A on the 12v output rail.
Do you think this is a problem or am I doing something wrong?

the liberty 500w is dual +12v rail so its 2 x 22amps which is equal to 32amps i think...

i think you'll be fine still.. i use the same one too. if it was a shite generic 500watt psu i would be worried but the enermax's are good quality.

All I did was connect the 8800GTS up to the red pcie plug on the powersupply. I don't know if in time it is going to kill my power supply early or my vid card early. But I have had no lock ups or reboots playing NWN1, NWN2, Fable, or Oblivion since putting this machine together a few weeks ago.

I purchased this 8800 GTS and running a resolution of 1680 x 1050 in games or 1280 x 1024 if native resolution is not an option.

The max draw the 8800GTX has been known to pull off a rail is 15A. In your scenario, let the card have one rail, let the drives and everything else have the other. Still comes out to well under 30A, and you still have lots of power for the ramaining components of your computer.

your perfectly fine with that PSU. I have no doubts your computer will run fine.

On top of that, I know enermax to be a company which puts its money where its mouth is, if that (what i believe to be wrong) PSU calculator says 495W max draw, your rated for 500W, so your OK. If if manages to kill itself during the operation of your computer, Im sure Enermax will give no arguement in replacing it.

And I have had a couple PSUs go, and I have yet to have one of them drag another component down with them.
