Upgraded to EG485P-VHB thanks for the info especially the privates.

I was wondering if anyone has recently purchased the described unit - my new one had no copper shielding and a butt load of molex, instead of copper-stiff shielded supply to MB +single molex it had:

black flexible sleeving (only MB, as shown on some of their cheaper units) without the additional molex for videocard.

Two separate lines for 4 x sata

Three other lines 1 @ 3 x molex 2 @ 2 x molex + 1 floppy. (Total 7 molex).

Have they depreciated shielding and increased molex instead as a result of reviews? And why no molex on CPU rail?

Wondering if this is better or worse.

Any thoughts appreciated.

There was never a need for shielding on the ATX cable. You're lucky to have the new model. Mine has the braided steel shielding, and it's a cast iron $#@! to work with, it's extremely inflexible. Next time I do cabling work in my case, I may resleeve it like I've done with the rest of the PSU, so I can actually do things the way I want. It got a lot of complaints from users ane reviewers, and as it wasn't needed, Enermax did the smart thing and replaced it with flexible braided sleeving. I wish they sleeved the whole PSU, I'd have gladly paid another $20 for it.

Mine has 2 SATA connectors; 4 will be a good thing for the future. I'm using the two I have right now. I have a dedicated molex for a graphics card (I'd guess newer versions will replace this with a PCIe connector or offer an adaptor) and the rest are 5.25" or 3.5" molex.
