I was excited the moment I first heard about it, should be alot of fun I think.

I am excited for this game as well, but sayings its BF2 with a way better engine. Come on now, the Doom III isn't better then the BF2 engine at all, in fact I would say the BF2 edges out the Doom III engine by a little. BF2 at least doesn't look plastic.

i should add in my opinion... and i didnt really mean graphics wise ... i meant netcode wise, i never really feel connected in bf2, i always feel a sort of sluggishness when im playing it.

How is not better... it runs atleast ;)
 
BF2 runs great for me, so thats a silly argument.

We have not seen what the Doom3 engine can do in a large outdoor enviroment, and how good it will look. The BF2 engine is much more complicated, as is the game than Doom3. Comparing such a simplistic game such as Doom3, and virtually no MP compared to BF2 for stability is pretty silly.
 
CGW's latest issue has a bunch of stuff on this game. The latest models don't look plasticy at all. This is going to be a BF2 killer.

yeah I picked that magazine up yesterday. I agree if you look at the pics in there you can see how great this game is going to look in the end.

...and yes it will destroy catwoman

I sure hope this game supports widescreen resolutions, unlike some other games *cough battlefield cough cough*

Looks like a futuristic BF2. How can you lose?

Is it confirmed to be using the Doom III engine? It certainly looks like it.

As for the debate on which engine is better... I don't mind the "plastic" people look at all, I felt the overall look of Doom III was damn good. I like BF2 as well, but I don't like the rag_doll physics it uses and the weapons don't nearly look as detailed as they do in Doom III (hell, even Source for that matter).

However, I don't see this running smoothly on my rig with high settings... Even Doom III staggered quiet a bit in MP with just 8 people. :(

Really? I thought the weapon detail in Doom 3 was a joke.

Anyways, thats why i'm going to upgrade right before this game ( or UT2k7...whichever comes out first )
 
I've heard about this a few times. Didn't follow it much, but I do have Quake 4 and love it. Is QW: ET another stand alone product based off Quake 4? Completely new game or just like a giant Quake 4 mod?
 
Stand alone game, and on the topic of it using the Doom 3 engine, its also adding a little extra Technology that Carmack and Splash Damage have been working on called Mega Texture. They mention it in the CGW article, and how it stores not only the graphical texture, but also the areas physical properties, such as weather its gravel, or what kind of traction a vehicle will get. Some neat little innovations there.
 
Wow this game looks fucking awesome, I was an addict of the original Enemy Territory, hopefully they retain what was good in that and implement it here. I hope the fire fights are the same, I think that will make or break the game for me.
 
Ya the old ET firefights rocked. Great stale mates could occure with that game I loved it :D
So nothing other than 2006 for a release yet then?
 
I hope the can keep the game play close to what ET was. Loved the way the experience system worked and how it could be changed for different servers.

Think i'll go play now.

With a 2.6P4, 2gbPC2700, and a 9800 pro I can run Quake 4 maxed otu at 1280x800 with 2xAA with barely any slowdowns of notice. Now THATS engine optimization!
 
I think people are confusing the doom 3's good engine with poor textures (plastic looking people). Battlefield 2's engine is extremely inefficient with resources...

BTW is the game free or not? (I'm guessing not but I can hope :D)

when i first saw teh demo movie for it...

my jaw dropped and i was in awe.

i read that CGW article and it makes me want it even more.

i really really hope this game destroys BF2 in gameplay and online experience and grafix and everything...

i can't wait!!!! :D :D :D
 
I hope it plays better on the 360 than Quake 4 is reported to play.
