• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Hello, everybody. I got an endian box setup. I have enabled the firewall and the openvpn server services. I had a friend try and connect to it. The connection timed out.

i have some question as to how to fix this/get it working.

1.Do i need to foward the ports on the endian box?

2. Do i need the Certificate from the endian box?

3. If o need the certificate where do i get it from. Where i add the users?

4. What VPN client is recommended/Does it requires a certain one to connect?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

1. No you don't have to.

2. Yes, you need the certificate from endian, it uses it for authentication (along with user/pass). There should be a "Download CA Certificate" link on the main openvpn config page.

4. For a client, grab the latest openvpn release candidate from http://www.openvpn.net

I'd read into it a bit more though. It can be a pretty big hole to open up.

By big hole i guessing you mean setting it up, or security wise?
