I'm trying to burn a DVD using nero and also DVD shrink using my Dell E1705 with a C2D T5200 and 1gb ram and the 8x DL burner, the first dvd I made I got tiling and broken up audio and such, the second one played perfectly fine for a bit and then just froze up.

I'm playing the DVDs in my Pioneer DV-525 dvd player and searched the internet and have no seen that it has any particular issues with DVDr discs. I'm using DVD+R also, not sure what the difference between - and + are.

If you're using the dvd mode in Nero its unnecessarily reencoding the video. Just burn the Video TS and Audio TS folders using Nero burning Rom.

Here's a guide:

Ok, i'll check that out, this is using version 7, does 6 even have the dvd burning option? I'm sure its probably using that option.

Does Roxio work half-way decent for this kinda thing? It came with a version from dell when I bought my PC but it came with Vista and won't let it install on XP so I was wondering if putting Vista back on and just using Roxio would work, I know that dvd shrink works.

I haven't used software from Roxio, so I couldn't say.

I think i'v actually found my DVD player to be the problem, I burned another disc with low priority burning turned off, and deep scan turned on and everything and it still did the same thing. So I put the dvd back in my laptop and just played it and it played flawlessly, so evidently my dvd player does not like these dvd+r discs, their staples brand so maybe i'll buy another spindle of some high quality ones and see if they will work.

My dvd player is fairly old, i'v had it several years, so may be that it is just not compatible with dvd+r discs. Wonder if I should try DVD-R.

What speed are you buring these DVD's at? What speed are the DVD's? Try burning them at a lower speed, maybe 4x? Another thing you can try is setting booktype to DVD-ROM. Good luck.

I agree. A lot of the burning issues I've had in the past were resolved by slowing the burn speed down.
