Hi Folks,

Since I upgraded to my 5870 last month. Everything has worked like a charm so far. Today, I wanted to play some UT3. Installed the game, patched it. Went into the CCC, forced AA to 4x and AF to 16x. Same settings as I had on my nvidia card. Now when I launch and start to play....ALL JAGGIES!!!!!!!!!!

It is making me blind. I remember back when UT3 first came out, I was able to force aa through nhancer. Anything I can do to force AA with my 5870?

Thx!!!

You should be able force it through Catalyst Control Center. There's a built in profile that will force AA on UT3 and other U3 Engine games(Mass Effect, Batman AA, and others). I do it and have no problems. Make sure you're not using SuperSampling AA, as it doesn't work on all games. You might want to try ATI Tray Tools(1.6 beta) as it has a form of profiles. The next driver release, 10.1, is supposed to have an improved profile system. You can play with the Catalyst A.I. settings to see if you can fix this. Usually, the Standard setting is best, but selecting Advanced might help here. Disabling it completely only stops all the little driver level tweaks that AMD does.

I have tried this method. Nothing works so far. AA looks aweful on the 5870.

ANy other suggestions?

Turn the resolution up beyond 640x480...

It must be a 5xxx issue, AA works fine on my 4870x2 in UT3, I leave it at 4x.

Maybe it's a driver issue. Try using a different version. The 9.12 Hotfix is the recommended, but if you're already using that, the 9.11's were very solid for me. The 10.1s should be out in the next week or so. There's a beta out already, but I had a few issues where games wouldn't start so I went back.

In the cats driver, change aa filter to narrow tent( doesnt matter if its 2,4, etc...) then it will work.

Thank you for that. I will try that tomorrow. I will let ya know...

**UPDATE**

Thx to Tripp17 for the advice. The narrow tent filter in AA worked like a charm!!!

Bravo!!
