So, I have been looking for a way to basically have an HTPC, but have a simple interface that will allow me to play one of my roms (that i legally own) using a controller or something, anyone know how to do this?
 
Well, just something that would be easily navigatable with a remote control. Doesn't have to be windows, can be linux.

I know this is possible with a modded Xbox, and that is basically what I want.
 
theres a program that integrates itself into mce or can stand alone and can be controlled via remote or a controller. search gamex or gameex, something along those lines.
 
Although mostly intended as a DVR, Linux based Myth TV can act has a frontend for emulators, has one of its abilities.
