what marty said. Em3, while great, has a few small bugs like that. I stop the service, run F@H with the -send all, restart the client and em3. usually that clears it
Does running EMIII in the taskbar affect system/folding performance at all to anyone's knowledge? In my task manager, it always shows up right below the 2 FAHcores and taskmgr.exe when I sort processes by "CPU." It's even ahead of KAV and internet explorer

As others said, the number is supposed to indicate how many WU's are queued up to be sent back to Stanford. EM3 is good at detecting when there is a WU in the queue, but it occasionally thinks there's something there when there isn't, and it isn't always good at clearing that flag.
It's caused by a bug in the F@H client that occasionally leaves files from WUs in the work folder even after the WUs are completed and returned. You should see it clear up at the latest when the machine gets back around the 10-position queue and overwrites those files. That can take a while, though. You can look up the queue information in EM3 to fibure out what WU is the current one (0 through 9), and then go delete all the unrelated files in the work folder, and that'll fix the problem.

Actually, what they're saying about EMII is true.... but.... I have one PC that has a total of 3 WUs waiting to send back.... for some reason, it's hitting the same server and I keep getting a "can't reach the server" error.... so, check your log file(s), and make sure it's not some server issue before you delete the files or anything.....
