Emergency Overclock HELP!

Hey guys, I just Oc'ed my e6600 to 3.0 GHZ by setting the FSB to 333.

333(9) ~ 3000.

Anywho, it seems to run fine.

I have ddr2-800 RAM (Pc6400 or whatever)...
I did not change any of the settings in BIOS for my ram, I don't know how it works or what to do.

And when I look in CPU-Z, it says
"Frequency: 250MHZ"
Timings seem to be 5-6-6-18.
FSB : DRAM = 4:3

Isn't it supposed to be at 1:1?

How can I fix this?

BTW,
Using ASUS P5W DH Deluxe with BIOS 1407.

I have C1E enabled as well as EIST. I'm idling at 31/35C and loading at 45/47C.

Please advise what to do with my memory timings.
 
Should I increase the FSB to 400 and drop the multiplier to 6x?

... I want to keep it at 9 if I can, because then I can use EIST and C1E. I don't think I'd be able to use those at a lower multiplier.
 
can't u run it at 1:1? you get higher banwidth that way and some apps benefit from huge bandwith

"drop" the multiplier on an e6600? ur multiplier locked. you're pushing that chip to the limit on air. if ur bsoding try dropping the clock a little bit til you are stable.

on second thought try increasing your voltage slightly and see if it stablizes your OverClock

Set the DRAM Frequency to DDR2-533MHz in the BIOS for 1:1. You want the RAM to run synchronous with the FSB. Then adjust the FSB frequency to 333, 400, etc. Also be sure to lock in the PCI Express frequency at 100MHz and the PCI frequency at 33.33MHz.

Your current setting Now, when you set the FSB to 333, then your Dram runs at :
( 333 / 4 ) * 3 = 250Mhz since it's DDR memory, that would make it run @ 500Mhz.

So for your Memory, it runs within it's capability.

Now I don't know Asus BOIS setting, since I don't have have similar Motherboard.
Try to search some post here.

If you run @ FSB : DRAM = 1:1 then when you set the FSB to 333, your Dram will
be running @ 333, since it's DDR multiply it by two then you are running 666.
Now if your CPU can handle that higher clock speed you'll get 9*333 = 2.997Ghz
Which I believe within the capability of your CPU.

Now for the BSOD, you might need voltage boost on MCH FSB DIMM or Vcore, it really depends and you have to find tune it your self.

You can go to the the first post in Intel Forum and read what some people have achieve with similar setup like yours.Just try to imitate the setting of other that have similar system like yours, may be you can try a more conservative setting, just to get the maximum OC your system can then fine tune it to get the most of your system.
Please remember, every chip, mobo revision, BIOS, RAM will have different result.
 
Followed the directions -- decided I wanted to stay at 3.0 GHZ with a 1:1 ratio with stock voltages for temp reasons.

I think CPUZ is reading my timings for my RAM at:
5-6-6-18-24

I mean, those are all the numbers it gives me (CAS, RAS to CAS, RAS, CYCLE TIME, and BANK CYCLE TIME, respectively).

But I am running it at 666 MHZ, which is 1:1 with my 333 MHZ FSB...

I have G Skill ram, the HZ stuff. PC-6400 (DDR2 800).
 
Well, you might be able to get away with tighter setting, Now like I'm not familiar with Asus, but it could be in the BIOS to set it manually, or your can download a software to set timing on the fly. I don't remember the name but I remember seeing it in some screenshot in the first post.

Since you are running well below spec, you should be able to run at tighter timing as the specification for the ram. Try CPUZ and go to SPD tab, there you should see your timing for given clock speed. Try to increase the DRAM voltage if your tighter timing doesn't work well.
 
go to the chipset page in the bios and change auto spd timings to disabled. this will bring up the ram timings. i have that ram, and if you set ypur vdimm to around 2.2v you will be able to run at 3-3-3-15 at that speed, or at least 3-2-2-15.

I have an e6600 and the G.Skill 6400 4-4-4-12 (not HZ though) and it hits ddr2 930 at 4-4-4-12, and will even do ddr2 1000Mhz! So your HZ (better) should hit the 832 easily.

BTW, WTF, is up with the "OMG Emergency" bullshit! There's not EVEN close to an emergency here. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen an emergency question in this forum. An emergency.... might be something like.... I killed the bosses computer & I need to get it fixed before lunchtime is over & he's back. Not a stupid memory timings question!

Your computer is working (overclocked at that!), its just a matter of you LOOKING in the manual... yeah that little book that came with the motherboard, on how to use the BIOS!! - NOT AN EMERGENCY NOOB!

I increased my FSB to 333 but I didn't increase the CPU voltage and it seems to work fine.

What do you mean?
 
Well, I could run just fine under no load. But might failed if you keep loading the processor. That's why you should test it using like Orthos, run blend test and if it run just fine after 16hrs+ then I'd say it's rock stable.

Now why 16hrs+, coz I've seen system failed after 12hrs, so anything below 12+ is questionable. I ran my test 18Hrs and up until today it has not generated any error coz I fold 24/7 :D

Btw, you got nice ram, corsair sucks mine can't do 1000

Not necessarily.... depends on the chip (#1) and motherboard. (#2)

My Vcore is at 1.15 V on idle... when I load its at... 1.31.

Should I increase, decrease, or keep Vcore at what it is?

What's Vcore stock?
 
Vcore is 1.325 stock I believe.
Well I know not everyone will agree with me but to find which part (RAM or CPU) voltage needs tweaking, I ran Orthos blend mode. If it failed on small FFT most likely the CPU needs more juice. If it on Big FFT, you might need more on DIMM, MCH or FSB.

But say if it runs fine for more than 12 hrs, and if you already put more voltage, then you might want to reduce voltage up to the point of just enough, coz too much volt will kill ya :D

Agreed, I am able to run 3.2 ghz all day at stock voltage. The core2 rules. I can go as high as 366 mhz before i have to start bumping v core and my memory laughs at me since it has much more headroom. Once i get bored and the 680I comes out, i will have an excuse to buy an aftermarket cpu cooler then its 3.6GHZ all day
 
I don't think my multiplier is locked. In BIOS, there is options for 8x, 7x, 6x, and obviously 9x.
