So I sold some stuff to a guy on here around a month ago.... He left me heat and everything so the transaction was good. But what the hell is this email from paypal?

it looks like your buyer has initiated a chargeback......Make sure you have all copies of delivery conformation, and all relevent emails handy..your gonna need them
 
It looks more like the buyer paid with fraudulent funds (stolen credit card). It happened to me once and that email looks all-to-familiar. The owner of the credit card finally got the statement and disputed the charge.

Crosshairs is correct. Same thing happened to me and paypal took their sweet time ruling in my favor. Them holding my funds like that put a real strain on my finances and was partly responsible for the blemishes on my online trading career. Well anyways good luck and I hope you have all relevant information regarding that transaction handy.

Exactly. Or, someone paid him with fraudulent funds which he used to pay you. Paypal will trace the funds through every transaction and take the money back from whomever ultimately recieved the funds. That's why you should never leave funds in your account.

This is one huge issue with paypal. It's their fault for allowing someone to use fraudulent funds in the first place. :rolleyes:

Now would be a good time to see if you can contact the buyer and start asking questions. If he maintains contact with you, he is probably not the shady link in the chain and has possibly been scammed himself.
 
someone initiated a chargeback. I would not be too surprised if it was the person that sent the funds as it is something that could happen. Just take a look at what happened to Isekii.

The funds aren't in my account... I have a negative balance for what they took to "put on hold"

I've pm'ed the guy that I sold the stuff too and worse comes to worse I know where he lives and it's not ALL that far away....
 
Well that's good at least. Make sure not to let anyone send you $$ on that account for the time being or you may never see those funds again.

Yup... tis the plan... I use my girlfriends account for non-cc funds anyways. So I guess that's all I'll be accepting until this is worked out.
 
Just got back from Staples, they were able to find the tracking number for me, so that is good.

I just sent the following email to paypal.

The transaction was very smooth, and the buyer left feedback and said that he was very happy with the purchase. Here is the info I have on the transaction.

1. Items purchased. Coolermaster Computer Case, 1 gigabyte of Twinmos DDR RAM Pc3200, and an Antec 500 watt power supply.

2. Shipped to Confirmed address:
Edited out.

3. Shipping was done by UPS shipped on 7/15/2005 and delivered on 7/19/2005 tracking number is 1Z4AR7310300107939

4. No other transactions related.

5. I can be reached at ***-***-**** please leave a message if I do not answer.

6. I take it you mean shipping insurance? If so the package was Insured for $250 through UPS.

I received a PM from the buyer and this is kinda what I thought happened.... He sold some stuff on ebay before he bought my stuff and is having problems with the transaction... So some how it affects me. Here is teh PM

"I have a seller who's giving me a hard time about a transaction. I have tried and tried to work with him with no success. I was not aware that you would be involved in this problem and I assure you I am making every effort to resolve this as quickly as possible."

What the hell...? I received the same message today in mail. Thank god I withdrawed everything from my paypal 3 days ago. The guy who paid me via Paypal balance, not by credit card so I assume it has to do with a guy before him. I recommend all of you guy withdraw the balance to your bank now if you haven't. This thing gets infected fast.
 
This is why i dont understand why SO many people will ONLY take paypal when there are such better methods out there with less headaches.
 
haha. Problem fixed. It was Paypal at fault. The guy talked to me on AIM today and straighten everything out with paypal. Also, the guy is a cop and he cursed Paypal on the phone :D. Everything is all good now.

If this doesn't get worked out properly I will stop using paypal all together and only accept postal money orders I believe.

This shit also happened to me. They suspended my account and then put a hold on my account... the sad thing is that I had $641.25 on it that were paid to me just the night before for a notebook I sold to a guy from my office.

I've tried to resolve the issue many times, but their answer has always been the same... "your account will remain suspended until case # PP-xxx-xxxx-xxxx is resolved. If you would like to dispute this, please do so. Additionally, you can request termination of your account, but the funds will still be held for 180 days. Once that period is over, we'll mail you a check for the remaining balance available in your account before it was suspended'.

So, yeah... PayPal sucks BIG TIME.

Nope, my account was suspended on 07/22/2005, so, if I'm doing my math correctly, I should be getting the money back by mid/late January of 2006... and that, my friend, royally sucks!

back in February I had problems with Paypal. I had a cool $330 in funds in the account. I had great heat and entered into two trades with users that were willing to ship first to me. When I got the stuff and I went into my paypal account to send them funds I noticed there was a dispute and a reversal of charges which left my balance at -$390. I called PP and ask them what was going on and they said that I had received fraudelant funds for an item I sold on Ebay. If I wanted to use my paypal account I would need to to put in the account enough to cover my negative balance and the two deals which was roughly around $300. That meant I would have to take close to $700 which I did not have just to pay the traders for their stuff. Needless to say traders eventually got tired of waiting, I was out some funds, got some neg evals on heat, and had to start a whole new paypal account to use. The neg evals where of course not entirely PP fault because I could have sent money order. Of course paypal still has my money despite the fact that they have had proof of shipment from me since like two days after I talked to them. 21 days to solve a billing dispute my ass. They just know that somehow they are going to get stuck having to pay someone the funds and since the other party had a credit card company I am sure they had their funds refunded at lot quicker.

I still use paypal mostly for its convenience but only for non-cc paypal.
 
thats why i dont use paypal, they held 500 dollars from me during some rough times 2 years ago,i got my money back next year, but that shit f'ed me over for those months and i swore never to use them again
 
I had my previous ebay account with about 149+ closed out due to a guy i sold about 20 sticks of ram to. He got the ram and about a month later did a non goods recieved bull crap. luckly for me i had already left a 0 balance on that paypal but it was -350. Since it was a while i didnt have any shipping information or anything the buyer told me he did get it. Basically the only way to restablish that paypal/ebay account was to send that guy a refund for the shit he already had and sold. The account which was accociated with paypal at the bank i never put money into it and let it close out over time with no balance :)
best thing to do with a paypal account it not have it linked to your main checking account. because paypal can pull from your checking account whenever. which is a crock of shit :(
so i lost my ebay account and that paypal account and started another one. Just set up a paypal online checking account and leave minimal money in there to keep it alive or keep from getting charged from your bank. Saves alot of missery

So if you deposit funds into your bank account, then receive a chargeback, will paypal withdraw the funds from your bank account?

No they wont.They will just put your PP balance at a negative. But I have heard that if you fail to deposit funds to cover the negative balance, after a certain amout of time, they will send a collection agency after you.

This is just what I have heard, not sure if its true or not.
I've been lucky, I've not had a problem with paypal..... ever.
I've been a priemier member since January 2001...So I guess Im real lucky :)

i tried to remove my CC from my account so they didn't charge my card for the balance and it wouldn't let me remove it while I have a negative balance. The account is no longer hooked to my bank account since i switched banks so i'm not worried about that.

if they charge my CC i'm going to issue a chargeback, but more than likely they will just leave it in a balance in my account.
 
pp had tried to charge my account which was linked to my bank checking account
since there was never any money in it. they could never take it out. The only way to bring back that account would be to allow paypal now issue a refund to the buyer. forget that since he already has the product. basically i paid the guy 350 dollars to accept ram from me which which i paid to ship to him as well :rolleyes:
 
had the same thing happen to me for a 6800 ultra. The guy paid me 450 bucks then charged me back. Luckily i didnt have any money in the paypal, so i just withdrew all my money out of my bank account and closed the account before they could get their 450. Fuck paypal. i had been a longtime user of them until this happened. Now i dont sell online.

Linking your bank account to your PayPal account doesn't mean they have the jurisdiction to take money out when they deem necessary.

If it happens, report fraudulent activity against them and they will retrieve the funds back from Paypal.

I never leave money in Paypal. As soon as it transfers, I go to an ATM and withdraw it via their debit card. Don't accept CC Paypal. Keep all tracking numbers.
