My organization has a 7 year document retention (archiving) period.

We are setup on Exchange 2007 and currently using MessageLabs for spam & virus filtering. I'm waiting to hear back from them on an email archiving solution. However I've also been considering Postini after reading some glowing reviews.

I'd prefer to go with a hosted solution considering how long the data needs to be stored for. We're a relatively small organization (non-profit), ~1300 to 1500 emails a day come in after spam has been removed.

Any experiences with email archiving hosted or not are appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not a fan of Postini just because its impossible to get ahole of a person unless you go through excel micro, and then they arn't much help either.

If you want hosted, look into appriver, they are one of the best out there.

If you want on prem, look into GFI mail archiver, or Symantec's vault product (I am not a symantec fan myself)

We use Enterprise Vault and have just under 1000 mailboxes.

If I were in a small organisation like yours I would turn on journaling and then dump to a PST on occasion and burn to a DVD or Blue-ray.
