This deal is dead.

One can EASILY spec out a similar non-refurb non-emachines system on the egg for a very close price.

I avoid refurbs like the plague, check out my barebone... of course I wouldn't ever buy this machine, but this just shows you that you can build a basic box for really cheap!

You also gotta remember that you are looking at an eMachine. They have never had high quality products even after Gateway bought them out. So, just like the cheapo Dell POS's, you get what you pay for going name-brand. I always recommend Custom rigs too...so unless they have a huge steal with all the accessories (like Dell throwing in LCD monitors and such) I would be leary. You can't beat 5 year warranties on a hard drives with a custom build system. They are lucky to give you a one year and most of the manufacturers will tell you that you can't RMA the device if it is in a name brand PC. Some don't ask.

Well you also forgot one key thing that made this a hot deal.

Win XP Home. With it....

Your Price: $380.47 + ($16.07 shipping)
Target Goal: $249.00 + (shipping unknown)
Difference: $131.47 + (shipping difference)

Don't forget the keyboard, mouse, and speakers....those will tack on about another $25 after tax for cheapos.

Back in the day (we're talking celeron 1's) eMachines sucked, hard. I have not worked with any of the newer ones, but ive heard that since being purchased by gateway, their quality is pretty good.

As for being a TD refurb, i have no experience with that.

Actually, I have to disagree with you and Annaconda. (Btw, aren't like 80% of his threads done by his posting script?)

The deal was quite hot, and your build didn't include over $100-200 bucks in stuff, from Windows to the case, psu, keyboard, mouse, and shipping of those items.

also, isn't this 939 socket compatible with opteron dualcore or a64x2? now that's awesome for an el cheapo server.
