emachine driver help!!!

Could you list the devices that are not being found so that we can try and pinpoint the location of some drivers.

Also, I did some scrounging and this laptop is most likely a Gateway, possibly in a gise

? other devices
? Coprocessor
? Ethernet Controller
? Other pci bridge device
? pci device
? sm bus controller
? video controller vga compatable

basically everythin thats on a motherboard cd

oh, that's going to be tough, I'd see if you can't get E-machines to cough up some info, since their name is on the product, see if they direct you to gateway, if they do, see if you can't get them to link you to some drivers.

It's going to be pretty tough guessing what drivers

from another user,,,,,,

that uses the nVidia c51mv chipset.

I think you will need the nforce 430/410 drivers from nvidia's site, but I am not positive about that. Certainly one of nvidia's platform drivers should work

hate to say it but your SOL. couldnt find anything at emachines or gateways site

gonna say never buy a emachine unless you see it on their support page but now that gateway bought them its on a downhill slide

so go get them

It's been my experience that eMachine's support is pretty weak... driver downloads are minimal if not non-existent. At best, technical support will tell you restore the OS to a factory state. To be fair, I understand why they only want to support their install. Maybe they could at least provide you with more details specs re: chipset, ethernet, wireless, etc.

That said, you may or may not be able to hack together an XP Pro install. With boxed desktops and notebooks it's possible that some of the components may not be supported by driver sets for retail devices. I can't find any specs for this system on the eMachine's website and the specs on the Walmart site are vauge. First, did your system ship with driver CD's or restore CD's? Do these CD's contain drivers that are accessible? Often, restore CD's contain a software image that's locked down, so you can't extract it's content, which sucks for those of us that don't want to run a bloated factory install.

What you could do is restore Media Center then use device manager to identify the various hardware components, then go download drivers for each of those devices. You could also look at making a copy of C:\WINDOWS (1-2GB usually, maybe more for Media Center)), installing XP Pro then, when new hardware is found, point the wizard to WHERE_YOU_COPIED_C:WINDOWS_TO\WINDOWS\inf. If the wizard is able to identify the device but complains about finding files, point it to WHERE_YOU_COPIED_C:WINDOWS_TO\WINDOWS\system32 or WHERE_YOU_COPIED_C:WINDOWS_TO\WINDOWS\system32\drivers

This assumes that Media Center drivers will work under XP Pro. ;)

I just purchased this same exact laptop yesterday. I have some of the drivers you need. Just give me some time to get them all on a disk then transfer them to my other PC. I will zip them up and upload them for you.

It's an eMachines N-10.

It can support up to 2GB of PC4200 DDR2 (200 pin SO-DIMM)
It can also support any 2.5 inch ATA-6 Hard Drive.

The graphics chipset is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100
The motherboard chipsets are nForce 430/410

Try these drivers my friend.

I'll see what I can get together and I'll try to help you, because I also plan to install XP Professional.

I just ordered a new 60GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive with 8MB cache and 1GB of OCZ PC4200 DDR2 for this bitch. So I'm ging to make a driver disk and copy everything I need so I can get up and running.

Hey man.

I started compiling some of the drivers I found on the hard drive and I also have the proper AMD drivers that support some of the features the Mobile Sempron 3200+ offers. I made copies of the /system32 and /system directories as well as the /drivers directory.

I also have some drivers that support the latest nVidia Forceware and have a modified INF that will allow support for the GeForce Go 6100 chipset. I got them over at http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

I have the drivers and codecs for the SigmaTel audio.

Just give me some time to test all this stuff out once I get XP Pro installed on the new HD. It will be a few more days before NewEgg get's the stuff here. Once I get all the kinks worled out I will I'll get them all uploaded so people can get some help.

I know Wal-Mart sold a shitload of these lappies and eventually their will be a ton of people looking for fast and simple support for this model. Hopefully I can help. I'm hoping to upgrade the CPU as soon as Socket S1 chips become more widely available.

This laptop has an Socket S1, so it might be able to run a top of the line CPU! The only way to knwo for sure is to test it right? So I'm upgrading it piece by piece and I'll make sure to make my findings public so other's can do it.

You really can't argue with the price of this thing either. I mean I got mine for $500 brand new. Wal-Mart is selling them for $650.00 new and you get a ton of cool stuff with it. Where are you going to find a laptop with that much cool stuff bundled in for that price? And by doing your own upgrades you save an assload of cash and have a sweet laptop with latest generation technology for under $1,000.

eMachines support fucking blows! If your lappy breaks, you're on your own. Hopefully people like us can help.

ya i reinstalled xp everything works fine now a friend got the same lappy so i used some program and copies all his system files and got the drivers...but the sound one works and i install it and everything but always says there was an error installing so i have 0 sound which sucks...

i got the sound driver froom his laptop but when i update driver it says a error occured during install of the device a device attatched to the system is not functioning....

I have the files you need. For some reason my server is being a bitch, so I can't upload them right now. I have everything.

First off.. Thank You! So far this is the only place i've found that has been able to help. The previous links posted above to drivers for this emachine fiasco have helped tremendously. The only drivers i need listed under other devices are :

Coprocessor
PCI device
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Video Controller

Any help is appreciated.

My mate has an eMachines N14 W340UA

Spent ALL afternoon searching for the bloomin' drivers and finally found a page with all the ones for it...

There is one problem though - the URL to the page messes up when I post it here. Because of this I have put a link to it on this page here...
