EM3 problem?

I came in this morning and checked on my boxes at work, and saw this on the EM3 screen:

I've never seen the red "X" come up before on my machines at work or home. I checked the log files and found no errors, or failed WUs.

Is this something I should be worried about?

EMIII, I think (correct me if I'm wrong guys), puts that red X on there if it's not going to meet the deadline to that WU....

Why is it taking ~13 hrs per frame on a P4 2.4? do you have the CPU usage set to 50% or something else? is there something that's stealing cycles away from F@H? (since it's a work PC, if it's not some spyware that's stealing cycles, maybe you should set it to timeless (deadline-less) units)....

The machine in question gets used for a little while each day, then sits the rest of the time there. It's a P4 2.4c running 1 instance, had 256 ram, but I upgraded to 512 today (Might update it to big units.) No spyware or other issues when I checked it recently, no problems noted in the FAH log file.

Only thing I did notice, is sometimes in the morning when I come in, the EM3 on my machine shows an error (time/frame), but when I click on the unit, it updates, but the time is screwy. Right now it looks like it's reading the right time (per frame:33:52, per WU: 56:26:40). Maybe the network disconnects after non use and confuses EM3?

Does the PC run any backups/etc in the night/early morning? full virus scan/etc? that might cause a time frame error... EMIII works on anticipation and estimates... if it doesn't see frame X completed roughly when it thinks it should, it gets confused and reestimates...

When you see EMIII in the morning, does it jump a bunch of frames? or just one frame?

do you have F@H installed as a service? otherwise, logging out could end the task/etc... Could you post some of your log file from that machine?

No backups, virus scan manually done once a week. Our receptionist uses it to run reports no more than an hour each day.

When I click on the EM3 error, it jumps and updates a bunch of frames.

Installed as service. The 'user' of the machine doesn't log out. Here's the last part of the log: (Stopped when I put in more memory, no errors listed in the rest of the log)

They must kill the connection(s) at night then.... the network not existing is the only time I've seen EMIII do that.... and that's why it jumps frames, once it finally gets a connection, it grabs the latest completed frame...

np... that's what we're here for!

one thing you might want to try, is to install EMIII on that PC... then there won't be a network involved and you can make sure you get all your info....
