Electronics Term : +5 VSB

I was looking at my PSU specs sheet and I was wondering what +5 VSB means.. this is because i was planning to do a electronics mod, and i was wondering what it was since this +5VSB is supplied to the 9th pin of the ATX connector to the motherboard.

I know VDC and all, but i just can't help not to know what is +5VSB means.. thanks guys
 
That is the 5v standby power line. It should have +5v whenever the PSU is plugged in, even when the machine is off. You might want to verify that with a meter, just in case.
 
+5 Volts StandBy...

bascially the +5VSTBY line is always on, even if the pc is off... hence why WOL/WOR etc works

Well, to be clear, VSB is just the name of the signal or the rail. I'd read it as "Voltage StandBy", I guess.

To me, saying "Volts StandBy" implies that it's different than "Volts Direct Current", or VDC.

WTF? +5VSB is basically the same as +5 VDC. THe only differencs? VSB is not controlled by the computer power switch (i.e., always on) and probably has much lower current ouput.
