Im running latest diver and Cap profile and in running 3 6970's in Tri-Fire im getting 20 to 30 FPS on Ultra settings and 30 to 40 on High, It must be broke becuz the game doesnt look that great...
Yeah it seems that it is broken. One way to get CFX to work is to create a profile in RadeonPro for Skyrim and under the 'Tweaks' tab force a AFR-Friendly D3D Profile and set MVPU Mode to AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering). Give that a shot
Has anyone confirmed that this is working and what kind of fps are you getting and at what settings and resolution?
I was reading through the [H] Performance & IQ Preview of Skyrim this morning and there were a few people in there that said using AFR-Friendly D3D CFX Profile within RadeonPro worked for them, as well as setting the mode to AFR.
IIRC one was running 1080P Ultra with 2 6950s (or something similar) getting 70-100fps. Sorry, I'm on my phone so can't go through the thread to quote the person exactly & I don't own the game. Some were also saying that Eyefinity/Surround wasn't working properly because the on-screen text was scaling with the resolution and wound up off the screen. Supposedly there are some .INI tweaks to turn Vsync off for AMD users since it doesn't work from CCC for some reason. Links are in the [H] thread.

We're working on a CAP update for Skyrim; as soon as an ETA is known I'll let you guys know
Here is the post to fix crossfire scaling http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1038008507&postcount=57
Can someone try this who has dual card and post back what their single card fps was and what their fps was after using this profile in Radeon Pro.
Main system in sig, 30fps avg on Ultra - after RP 60fps avg on Ultra.
LOL i have tried some of the tweaks and couldnt get it working, I was all hyped up to play but ill just wait for a Cap fix i suppose.
Lord as usual you are the Man! I laugh everytime yoou make a post on something cuz your always right![]()
Well I am running a dual gpu 5970 with 11.10 catalyst and skyrim is running stable at constant 60 fps with ultra settings. I think it is capped at that level. No issues whatsoever. Even the little crossfire logo pops up in upper right of screen to indicate cfx is active. Not sure why a single card, dual gpu setup would be different than a two card cfx setup, maybe I'm just lucky?
Running 11.10 with out-of-the-box Skyrim was very choppy (25-30 FPS) on my dual 6950(70)s at 2560x1600 with ultra settings. After dropping in the .dll I'm getting 50-60 FPS, super smooth, with all "extra ultra" .ini tweaks applied.
As with a slew of recent high-profile titles, AMD dropped the ball bigtime on this one. I'm waiting with eager anticipation to replace my current cards with nV's 28nm card.
I couldn't agree more.
Brand new AAA title and you have to jerry-rig your drivers because the three guys at AMD are too busy. Jesus.
Its may be active but not scaling well at all. I've seen both of GPU's doing work using MSI Afterburner, but the scaling just isn't there. If you use RadeonPro and enable the D3D AFR friendly crossfire profile, you'll see the difference with crossfire working properly.
OK, I will check out radeonpro and see what I find. I have not used it before and know that I must RTFM completely, but the only mention I saw regarding afterburner was this ..."loading of MSI Afterburner's overclock profiles". Just want to know if this will run side by side with my afterburner oc settings.
Thx

When you say "see the difference" are you referring to graphically (visually) or to technically via osd? I created a profile both with AFR friendly D3D enabled and with no CFX tweak enabled, and both launched and showed 60 fps and graphically displayed activity on both cores with the cfx "bar". I then deleted the profile altogether and launched the game direct from hard drive and the cfx bar still showed activity on both cores and fps again at 60. I wish I knew what I did or set, but it sure seems like cfx is enabled and working even without the tweaks of radeonpro. Even FRAPS shows steady 60 fps. So I guess I should be happy!
