EK Wave 775 over Koolance Block?

I noticed EK has a nice 775 block with a acetal top, would you guys pick that over Koolance, solely based on performance?

Or is the Koolance still a better performer?

I'm using a TT block and I'm scared of the top cracking.

I noticed the Ek-wave also comes in a acryllic version, which begs the question, do acryllic top water blocks really crack that often?

That is one beautiful setup, damn now I really don't know, I was so set on the Koolance block, but I noticed the EK-wave one is just a few dollars more and people seem to love their 8800 GTX blocks.

My humble suggestion is to go with a GPU only cooler (it will upgrade as you do) and get a D-Tek Unisink for the other stuff. When you upgrade your card you will only be out the price of the Unisink and maybe an attachment plate for your GPU block.

I'm confused I was inquiring about CPU blocks, and TopNurse seems like you're talking about video cards?

would the ek wave be better than something like the d-tek fusion?
cheers

EK's CPU blocks aren't competitive with the Apogee GT/GTX or the D-Tek Fuzion. I own EK's 775 block and haven't found a use for it other than to sit in my block museum. It's just not competitive against those blocks I mentioned. Now with respect to the Koolance block. I'll just bite my tongue and won't comment as some feel as if I have a bias against Koolance due to my past horrible experiences.

EK has the best video card blocks, but for your CPU, i'd reccommend a swiftech Apogee GT/X or a D-tek Fuzion. The fuzion I believe is a little less restrictive than the apogee so if you have a lot of stuff in your loop that would be the way to go. However, a bowed apogee is the top performing block at the moment.

The Koolance CPU block is excellent. No one can tell you that it is better or worse than anything else except by personal experience (that means they ran both blocks in the same loop). Their CPU block hasn't changed much over the last 3 years except in shape and exterior. The same raised pyramids are what make it great due to the vast amount of turbulence the water goes through. The metal to water radiation surface is way above anything else on the market.

The reason the pyramids are bent is that I took a big hammer to break the plexi off it. If it looks dirty it is as it was sitting on my bookshelf for a couple of years.

I'd say the EK in delrin.

Why? less restrictive, that it's cheaper, and that it focuses the flow over the die, instead of the entire cpu.

Now that I think about it, I'll be using a multi-core CPU (Q6600) so the Koolance would give me better overall coverage, rather than a center die designed block.

Well since you have the block ranker how much of a difference is there between it and the apogee?

It's been quite some time. But it was a large difference, where large for me is at least 5C or more. I talk with Eddie (of EK) often. He admits to his block as not being competitor but told me specifically that he's working on a new 775 block and intends to be competitive with the GT/GTX/Fuzion. There are a few prototypes, one of which was posted by his right hand man over on XS.

No fronts on prototypes...

So do you have the Koolance block?
