In stock as of 1:45 cst! Spoke to Bucky in customer service to make a change on the order I just placed and he said he started with around 40 pieces and there are 3 left as of this post. Get em while they're hot! :D

bye bye 80c! (school girl giggle)

My one concern is that after the initial rapid sell off EK posted a message on its website that the shortage would be solved a in a couple of weeks and that makes me a little worried that the manufacturing of those second run blocks might have been a bit rushed.

Their copper blocks are okay (well the machining quality is so-so), but I wouldn't touch their nickel offerings. The company itself has pretty terrible customer service and a history of doing some not so great things. Aquacomputer / Watercool blocks (Bitspower a bit behind them) would be my recommendations, but the first two will cost a bit more (but you get what you pay for).

Installed 2 of the EK nickel + acetal this weekend. No complaints as far as packaging and I had 3+ extra of each piece of install hardware (except the block of course :p). Not a whole lot of extra heatpad to play with but certainly enough to get the job done.

Prior to the install I was seeing low 80's C on both cards, full furmark load in my MM case, which isnt super great, air-flow wise. Idles were ~35-50. I'm now seeing no more than 42 c load on both. high 20's idle. Pretty damn good so far. Haven't gone beyond 1125/1575 yet but i'll venture over the border sometime this weekend probably.

On a side note, does anyone know if its possible to get a temp reading from the vregs on the reference cards?

I agree.
I've had a couple EK blocks and they were marginally normal, but they are cheaper.

I'm going to wait and buy a couple of the Heatkiller blocks when they are done.
I spoke with Sidewinder last week, the blocks are scheduled for release this week.....so I would be expecting delivery in about two weeks.:D

loafdogg420 very nice improvement on the cooling. Looks like this block works great.

i believe the 7970 and 7950 reference boards have the same layout.

That is what I have read online. The problem is that there are no true reference HD7950 video cards being made. All of the released HD7950s have custom PCBs. Some of them look similar but they are not the same.

I like the MSI R7950 OC model but it is not reference so no water blocks for it yet. Hopefully the water block companies will have some motivation and build some water blocks for HD7950. It may not work out that well. The different PCB designs will only cause problems for water block builders and those who want a water block that fits.
