EK 6970 blocks

Does anyone have any experience with these water blocks. My h2o loop is very quiet but my freaking VGA fans are rediculous for most games that push the cards hard.

I have 2 6970 cards. I am also running a Swiftech MCP655 pump (non variable speed). I am wondering if I am going to need another pump. But 355gph is pretty high flow rate. Looking for been there done that peeps.

I could waterblock these or I can sell the cards and get a 6990 when they come out and just waterblock that.

I didn't use fullcover blocks specifically, but I ran a system with 3 waterblocks. I use a universal D-tek Fuzion GFX 2 block. From what I see, the restriction they add to the loop is similar to full-cover blocks, maybe a little bit less. I run an MCP655 (variable, but full throttle all the time), with a moderately-high restrictive radiator. Never had a problem with flow rates or cooling. My two graphics cards (GTX 275 in SLI) stayed within 1 C of each other, maybe 2 C difference at most under maximum load.

What I'm much more worried about is your radiator. Based on your signature (it would've been much easier if you listed what you're using in your post), you have a 2x120 radiator. Based on you saying that your loop is silent, you're running low speed fans. 4.8 ghz, 2 6970's, you're going to have major heat issues. A 2x120 radiator is not going to cut it with low speed fans, you're very likely to overheat your graphics card and your GPU's.

Personal experience: 18 C ambient air-conditioned room. 2x120 Thermaltake radiator and 1x120 Swiftech radiator. Phenom II 965 at 3.8 ghz. Dual GTX 275, not overclocked. Thermaltake had 2 2800 RPM fans. Swiftech had a 2000 RPM fan. All of these barely kept the 275's under 65 C, and the processor under 55 C. I would hate to think of your temperatures with a 2x120 radiator and fans spinning under 1200 RPM (which is what I think of when I assume silent). Oh, and this is with the MCP655 I mentioned above. I am now running a 3x140 radiator.
 
You won't need a new pump and the EK blocks are always good. I'm running a CPU and 2 GPU's on my 655 and flow rate/pressure is not an issue. At $105 a block I'd just get them.

Also mentioned above you should upgrade that rad to a thick 3x120 at least if you plan on adding 2 GPU's to the loop.
 
EK Blocks are good, just watch what revision you get for the true reference 6970 or the 'new reference' 6970's with the VRM layout changed (the blocks are specific)


The only knock I have against EK is having to use those stupid standoffs on everything. Their mounting systems suck compared to some of the other block companies.
