Hi
need to buy some good image quality monitor mainly for graphic work
Im thinking about buying one of these eizo S2401W or S2431W depends on the difference between image quality. (dont know if the s2401w is s-pva)

pls anyone who has experience with eizo or has any other tips for good display within this price range sharing your opinion would be most appreciated

All Eizo 24+ WS are PVAs, so forget about them. They are surely over-priced for a mere PVAs :)
Look for an IPS LCD. Where are you from? This affects the offer of LCD models.

Im from slovakia. At first i wanted nec but 2690 is too big and expensive for me and 2490 is impossible to get in eu ;(

Aha. No každopádně ty PVAčka nejsou žádná velká sláva, dělá to některé nehezké efekty, viz můj podpis :)
Vím, že 2690 je dost drahá. Nicméně HP chystá nový monitor... moment, najdu odkaz...

Možná to bude to pravé :)

(For the who don't speak Czech: I told the guy that I understand 2690 is very expensice, but these Eizo PVAs are not the best and that HP will soon release a new IPS, which may be a good choice.)

PVA has only one disadvantage when compared to IPS: some color/gamma shift at an angle. On the other hand PVA has advantages when compared to IPS thanks to PVA's larger pixel aperture which results in a less grainy image and a more efficient use of the backlight, as well better small text quality.

There is no clear winner - each one has its strengths and weaknesses. What bothers you more? If it's color/gamma shift, then get IPS. If a grainy look and eyestrain from unclear small text bother you more, get PVA.

I have both types of monitors, and I use mostly the PVA monitors because most of what I do involves a lot of text. Staring at black on white text for 12 hours a day on a grainy sparkly IPS panel is no fun.

i think the monitors which are suit for you should be EIZO CG241, NEC LCD2490wuxi,eizo s2401 is TN panel.

Well, I just disabled ClearType, and took a very close look at the pixel structure of black-on-white text on my Eizo CG301W (Samsung PVA panel), and I don't see any problem with the "crystal structure". The pixels are fully black. Text on the CG301W and the XL30 (both PVA) is extremely good. The much less expensive 305T uses the same panel, and it should be just as good. I haven't seen the panel discussed in the posts mentioned above, so I don't know about that one.

OK, let's not start an IPS vs. PVA battle. We are here to help danihel and my recommendation is to wait for what HP LP2475w brings, especially because I consider Eizos and Samsungs to be over-priced anyway (at least here) :)

zdravim Biges :)
that new hp display looks very nice especialy the price if it will turn out to be true, it could replace the nec 2490 that is missing on our market. Now i started thinking about the nec 2690 but ive read its of worse quality than the 2490 so that really turns me off since 24'' is big enough for me and paying more for something that has worse image quality doesnt make me feel good, I hope the hp display will come out soon.
Thanks everyone for help I would still like to hear some opinion about the nec 2490wuxi vs. 2690wuxi quality

I'd wait for HP LP2475w. And check your PM :)
