Ehiem 1250, how loud?

I don't think my microphone would pick it up :D

It's very quiet..When i was running it on carpet all i could hear was a slight low freq buzz when I got really close to it and the water bubbling in the res, it's pretty damn close to silent. In my opinion, it's as good as silent.

The pump itself is enar silent.

BUT...if you don't mount it in some sort of vibration damemping mount...you can get all kinds of bad noise.

McMaster has some rubber mounts you cen buy for dirt cheap. HighspeedPC sells some as well, bofr either 16 or 20 bucks....only go that route if your too lazy to go through the McMaster catalog.

Thanks guys :).. i was thinking about using some Velcro Industrial Strength STICKY-BACK Fasteners

Need to secure something a little heavier, or on a difficult surface, like plastic? Industrial Strength STICKY-BACK® brand fasteners offer a 50% stronger closure. And, because it is wider, it holds to surfaces better.

Can't hear mine, but it makes my whole desk vibrate.

I got a 9x9x9 peice of old packing foam, and carved it out to isloate pump, and used velcro to affix it to the floor of my case. It fits snugly, and the foam comes about half-way up the pump.

bah velcrow...use the 3m stuff in my sig :)

I bought a set of 4 suction cups for 98 cents at my local Big Lots. With a little work they fit right in the slots on the bottom of the pump and they are REALLY good at dampening any vibration from the pump itself.

I made a slit in one side of each suction cup to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of my case (I hate that because I'm always wanting to move my pump around to work in my case) and this actualyl has an even better vibration dampening effect.

I highly suggest evweryone with the 1250 give it a try. :)

Why not just cut up an old mousepad. The ones I have are thick neoprene. Ya know, the stuff used in a wetsuit for scuba diving. Anyway, they're thick and provide good sound dampening.
Another plus, don't have to mail order and pay for shipping and taxes and stuff if you already have them laying around. heh...:p

^^^ can anybody post a wave file or something :)

Thanks!!

Well I have no wav file but I have the pump and it's dead scilent. If this thing ever turned off, I honestly would never know.. and my computer would prolly fry...soo, yeah. I tucked a small piece of foam under the pump, it was packing material it's about half inch thick and very flimsy. Once it was under I couldnt believe it, you cant even use the word quiet b/c there's not sound at all.

Get the pump and pos piece of foam and you'll bask in scilence.

by the way, the mcmaster mounts help prevent the transmission of vibration....even on the floor of an aluminum case...the thing barely vibrates at all.
