hey all, I just heard about this and maybe someone can school me on what is so special about it. I have used a regular usb thumb drive to load up a boot-loader before, and also installed OS-X on a pc using the official install dvd.

can someone please help me understand the use of this. because I might get it depending on what it does exactly, or how it makes the above process easier.

also I am not saying it is a pointless device, I have no idea, it is probably a very useful item, that is why I am asking.

Thanks
Bob

It is exactly the same thing as installing a bootloader on a partition or usb stick. EFI-X as I understand it plugs into a usb header on your motherboard and you set it as your first boot device in the bios. It also requires a pretty specific set of hardware.

We aren't really supposed to talk about this stuff here so we should probably just leave it at that.
