Effect of cold on electronics

Does cold have an effect on electronics? For example, if you left your laptop out in the car and the temp got down below freezing, would that mess it up?

The reason I'm asking is b/c I sold a gameboy game on half.com and the person who bought is now saying it doesn't work. I played it for an hour right before I mailed it, so I know that it did work, but I'm wondering if it got too cold sitting in my car before I mailed it.

BTW, I don't mean like -40 F, more like 25 F at the coldest

no way. maybe they're trying to get a free gameboy at your expense.

doesnt happen to my electronics, during christmas time lots of my family leave eletronics in there car and nothing happens to them.

my freinds cell phone slows down alot when its really cold out (10F), but thats about it.

did you use ups or did half.com use ups they might have played foot ball with it loading it into the truck cause we all know they do soccer and basketball with them they also fire the packages out of pnumatic cannons

My laptop stays out in my car most days of the week, never had any problems what-so-ever. Now i do live in northern Cali, so it's not snowing or anything, but it will get pretty damn cold oh some nights. Easily below freezing as i find ice all over my windshield. Shouldn't affect your gameboy at all. Either the buyer is trying to rip you of or it's the shipper's fault, as stated before.

My cell phone is awesome when its cold. I took it to Colorado with me skiing, and it was around 5-10 degrees outside. The crystals would slow down and it would just display stuff in slow motion. Then I dropped it in the snow, but luckily its durable. The cold shouldn't have effected it. All Electronics have a max/min operating/storage temperature. You can check those to make sure you're fine.
