Hey guys i set up my first WC loop and finally got it all in....right nwo i have crapy old dceramic thermal compound....and i have a dual 120mm rad with 2 nikka rigged 80mm smart fans on it.....my temps for my A64 ( TDX block) are around 45 idol.....once i get the 120mm fanws and soem AS5 and lift the rad off the bottom of the fcase and get a shroud do you think my temps will drop into the 30's?

my temps go to about 50 while surfing the net but i dont plan to game untill i can get everything stable.

whats a high temp for an A64? When will they burn out?

also does anyone know of a site that has any good diagrams to make a shroud for a dual 120mm rad?

Heres a link for a how-to on making a dual 120 shroud including a template. You may have to adjust the measurements a bit for your exact rad/heatercore: http://overclockers.com/tips1183/

Since a single 120 will pull more air than dual 80s (generally) going from 2 80s to 2 120s + adding a shroud + rasing the rad off the bottom of your case should = a serious drop in temps. Whether it will get you into the 30s will also depend on the other items in the loop but Id figure a decent A64 system would see high 30s at idle.

Do you have the rad laying flat on the bottom of the case? If you do, there's no room for the air to escape from the other side of the rad, and you just have "dead airspace" there.

i have the rad raised form the bottom right now, and i ahve the fans laying on the rad with no shroud( have to mod the fans a bit to use screws with them) and MBM5 is telling em while surfing the net and using AIM and listening to mp3's that my CPU temps are about 26-29 C*.

so far im happy and im sure they will do down once i get the fans actually mounted and not just laying there.
