So about a month ago, my computer started doing this wierd echo thing... it happens when i'm playing mp3, cd, wma, or just about any other type of music through anything but winamp (which alone seems to be unaffected by this). Basically, it sounds like someone turned the reverb up and won't get off the suspend pedal on the piano (sorry, best description I could come up with :p )

Here's what I have:
Amd Barton 2500+
Abit NF7-s rev.2
1gig corsair XMS 3200 dual channel
Tyan 9600pro
Maxtor 160gig ata-133

so not the best system, but it should be pretty stable and this is bugging me... i've had problems with video and games hesitating where they shouldn't for a while now, but this is just too much. Any help would be very welcome
:)

in Christ,
matt

Do you have EAX effects turned on? If you do and have the enviornment set to something odd it will cause crazy echo.

dang... that would have been nice if that was it... i was getting excited.
the mic is unplugged and no eax... could it be a wierd plug in or some such?

try messing with the soundstorm option on the windows system tray. It happend to me also, once when i was messing around with the sound options, but i figured it out and it went away after i disabled something. I cant really tell you what anymore since i unstalled all my audio drivers since i bought my xfi yesterday. If it was like monday i couldve helped you

GOT IT!!!
ok, so there's an encoding setting in the NVidia tray that creates a delay... mine was set to "psychotic"... ha! no joke!
thanks guys :)
