Hi there.

Most of post in internet are confused to answer the question "Wich procesor with ECC Memory ?"

After a week of browsing several informations, I find these conclusions :

Core i, 1st generation :
  • Core i3-330E
  • Core i5-520E
  • Core i7-620LE
  • Core i7-620UE
  • Core i7-610E
  • Core i7-660UE

Core i, 2nd generation - Sandy Bridge:
  • Core i3-2310E
  • Core i3-2340UE
  • Core i5-2515E
  • Core i7-2610UE
  • Core i7-2655LE
  • Core i7-2715QE

As you can see, .only Core i* with E seems to manage ECC, non REG (so, up to 24 GB Ram)

.... BUT with server chipset : C204 / C202 and 3400/3420/3450
==>> every Core i3 can take avantage of ECC !!! ( http://www.nexenta.org/boards/1/topics/1433 )

So there's no other restriction than the BIOS supporting ECC (thus all server boards on LGA 1155/6)? AWESOME!

Indeed : only Core i* 2xxxE manage ECC no REG (UDIMM / Unbuffered memory), up to 24 TB Ram with every chipset for LGA 1155/6 and motherboard ECC capable.

... and all Core i3 manage ECC but only on chipset server (C204 / C202 and 3400/3420/3450 ) as said before ;)
