EBAY + Hl2= STupid People

So people are paying for him to upgrade his comp, play through the game and, maybe, sometime in 2005 he will beat the game and send them a picture? I hope the people bidding realize this.
 
All I can say is......wow.

$300 for a screenshot, and it isn't even of a naked celebrity.

Not to mention you won't get the screenshot until after he's beat the game by which time anyone with a casual interest in the game will already have their own copy.

Hey, I would much rather donate to something like this than to one of the many garbage "please help me pay off my bills" sites/auctions.

I would never bid for him since he is obviously an adult.

If it was a smart 13-14 year old kid, Then I would think it was pretty cool.

This guy is just a mooch.
 
I know the guy personally and it's all legit. I came accross the ebay link on [h] then after reading it saw the name and thoguht "I know this dude!". Anyways he works for the same web design company as I do and his comp is a true POS. The whole deal started based on a joke but ended up as this ebay auction he spent 3 days designing. FYI the Gabe Newwell on it is the REAL one as he did speak with my friend personaly via email. Pretty cool how he became popular over night IMO.
 
i actually understand him... you would, too, if your comp's performance was so bad, you were perpetually 5 minutes from throwing your laptop out the 2nd floor window next to you and buying a new one...
 
maybe he could save some money by not having his own domain name (note his email addy)
 
$405 bidder with no feedback...I doubt he will be receiving any money...

He made the item look nice with a lot of info and shiz though :p

You have got to let us know if he actually gets donations for an upgrade. I'm seriously pulling for him.......I have no money to give him as I'm saving up for a new VGA for my own. If it works out more power too him.

EDIT: he's already made $50.00 off the add on auction. I'm amazed.
 
Well, Gabe is already a multi-millionaire and will be that much more well off after HL2 so if he wants to bid, good for him.
 
SInce he is violating the ebay rules, specifically:

I was just curious how much this guy was actually seeing off this load of crap. It's bull if you ask me...there are a LOT more worthy causes of donating your money to some middleclass whelp kid paying for college who wants to play a video game. I just graduated school and the whole idea of feeding off others generosity/stupidity really irks me. The kid can work a few more hours like I did when I wanted new hardware. I'm going to have to buy a new vid card for hl2 as well, but you don't see me, nor would you ever see me pleading my case on ebay...he lost every shred of integrity for a few hundred dollars. I just can't believe it's actually working. I wouldn't give this kid a dime.

Here's my ebay question(from archaeantrader - to grozzler) and his response. You gotta figure from his response he's made several hundred at least to buy a video card and maybe a case.

this guy actually has a sort of cool idea... it's like trolling, only you don't get totally screwed over. you pay large sums of $$$ for something you don't really want or need in exchange for the knowledge that you've done something for a good cause.
