Something is wrong here

System:
E6400 @ 3.2 (stable, orthos 16 hours)
G.Skill HZ @ 800
600W Xclio Greatpower
320Gbx2 matrix raid (0+1)
Fresh XP Install
Asus EAX1900 (X1900XT @ stock speeds 621Mhz Core 720 Ram)

Just installed 6.10, DX9c, Intel chipset drivers, etc etc and 3DMark06

Basic edition test, I got a score of 4260  !!?

Installed and ran BF2, all high settings, 1680x1050, 6x AA (all CCC stuff set to default) and got an average FPS of 30..... I've read similar systems should be over avg of 60.

Something is really wrong here. Is my X1900XT F'ed up ?

Did you have an NV card before you installed the X1900XT? Did you also completely remove the old drivers? I had a similar problem and found out that i had pieces of left-over Forceware when i installed Catalyst.

Brand new system. No previous cards, drivers, etc

I'm thinking its something much more diabolical.

Forgot to mention the mobo is a P5B-Deluxe (804 Bios),

I had an issue with a 1900xtx never changing into 3d clock speeds, and those were the kinds of scores i was getting. ended up RMA'ing it and getting a 1950cf and a 1950xtx. I'd check to make sure all the ati services are running. I know if you disable one of them it removes 3d detection and clock changes.

I thought about that, but I'm not sure how I can figure out if its going into 3D speeds or not.

Checked the services, there are two I saw, both seem to be working.

Hmmm... I'll try poking around some more,

Messed with drivers, changed the OC to 688 core 750 ram, etc etc

Just re-ran 3DMark06 and got ..... a 4020   I went down 200 points.

BF2 is O.K. but certainly not where I want it to be. I'm guessing that this thing isn't switching into 3D mode.

Any way to confirm that ?

-=PESTILENCE=-

You were right. Its not going into 3D speeds at all. I disabled the Hotkey Poller Service (which is the one watching for 3D apps) then ran again so I know it was using 500Mhz core (2D) speeds, I got a score of 4162.

So its just not switching....... wonder why not? Was the card you had an Asus ?

I guess I'll have to RMA but that kinda sucks.

No, I had an ATI branded. I'd try just redoing all your drivers and stuff first, just to make sure you don't RMA for no reason. Make sure the service is running and all that junk. But yea, when i got the new 1950's, everything runs fine.

Just tried using Omega drivers and Ati Tray Tools, forced core and mem to 3D speeds, even upped the voltages to 3D, still nothing.

I got a bum card or something. Lucky me its a newegg purchase

use ATI Tool after disabling all of the ATI services and set ur 3d speed manually aswell, I didnt know TT lets you do that but I know ATI tool does for sure ^^

i doubt there is anything wrong with the card,

use the catalyst uninstaller , then reinstall the drivers,

you can manually set the clocks using the atitool but you also need to manually set the gpu voltage for the 3d clocks to be stable.

1.4v i think is the 3d voltage for the gpu or 1.45 , you can use either , wont hurt your card

"Did it manually with tray tools..."

I got it upto ~5000pts, thats way overclocked, voltages bumped a tad up, in that bench util which is still way way below a stock 1900XT. :(

This item was an open-box from newegg. Which means someone got it, and then returned it, newegg didn't think anything was wrong so they boxed it up and sent it to me. I set up an RMA already, for the little extra dough I got a retail one coming.

I did set the voltages, I set the clock, that result is everything set manually. That result sucks so hard that it actually is funny.

This may be a stupid question, but what are your Image Qaulity settings set too, have you changed them from defaults?

Figured it out.

Its a problem with the P5B boards. Sometimes depending on OC your PCIe speed can get set a 1X. The card functions normal just does almost exactly 2/3 its normal performance.

No warnings, errors, nothing. You just need to check CPUz Mainboard screen and look at the link speed.

I got a 6677 now, not sure how much higher I can go if I get my OC back to where it belongs.
