I created an Eax Environment similar to Audigy's 1 Eax:Normal Effect before web updates got rid of it.All you do is import them into your eax control panel and it will show up under custom.So far I tested on my Audigy 2 ZS card and it works.Might work on other Audigy cards(haven't tested it).

Sorry about the link.Anyway you have to own an Audigy 1,2,2ZS to understand what I'm talking about.It's a feature in the EAX Console.One of the effects,but if you don't own one of these cards this effect is useless to you.I can upload it to another server if anybody wants this effect and know what I'm talking about. :D
 
You do that enabling EAX environments causes resampling (which kills the sound quality) don't you?
 
Actually I've been looking for a preset EXACTLY like this for a very long time. Big thanks to Dave123 for posting it! It works great!

The resampling is only bypassed when the card is fed AC-3 or DVD-A. Otherwise the Audigy 2 series is hard-wired for 16-bit 48khz like any other consumer soundcard.
 
So you are saying that if I use foobar with kernal streaming and set the SSRC resampler to 48k that the card is gonna resample it again.

Do you understand what I mean now? ;)

BTW you remark about consumer level card being "hardwired" to 16-bit 48khz only applies to cards that have AC97 interfaces on them.

That's what I mean, literally every consumer soundcard on the market has an AC'97 codec except the M-Audio Revo.
 
I personally use my own custom made EAX preset, and it works perfectly fine. I don't hear any degradation, and I don't have crappy multimedia speakers.
 
I enjoy the EAX setting and there isn't any noticable degradation to my ears. The sound quality actually sounds "enhanced".
