Ok i know this might have been answered before please link me if need be but i would rather have a straight answer. Is EAX 4 or HD noticebaly better in terms of quality, performance, positioning then EAX or EAX 2? if this requires depending on good speakers then use the pm 5.1 ultras as the speakers in the question.

I'm not sure, I thought the EAX 4 deal was just multiple sound acoustics (reverb etc) running at the same time. I thought it was weak when I bought my audigy 2 zs. That was the demo that came with my card to show what it was. Like a sample. I'm probably wrong, but maybe someone could explain more. There are some other effects too, but I can't remember.

yeah you got the exact same sound setup i want. tell me how it is if i havent already bugged you about it. :p

I have the 680's and the Aud2ZS. From my experience the EAX HD (3) and EAX 4 algorithms are vastly superior to what came before. EAX 4 wasn't much different from 3, but the difference between 2 and 3 was pretty damn noticeable. If you're going to do any sort of modern gaming be sure to get a card that supports both. A vanilla Aud 2 may suffice, but I went all the way for the ZS ;)

i have an Audigy1 w/ audigy 2 drivers, a bit cheaper, but gets the job done. i don't notice any difference between the autigy 1 w/ 2 drivers and the audigy 2 cards.

I have the Audigy 1 gamer edition...which EAX version does this card have? EAX 1, 2, 3 or 4??...I thought that by updating my drivers to the latest version is what makes my card EAX 4 capable..am I wrong?
