Easy memory question

I have 2 sticks of 256 and I want to upgrade another 512. Can I just buy one stick of 512 or do I need 2 more 256 sticks so they all match because Dell told me it wont work scince I have 256's in there already.

Also will dual memory work if I have 2x256 and 1x512?

wrong. it is indeed possible to run 2x256 and 1x512 in dual channel, but without the same chips on the memory sticks, it might not work. sticking a 512 stick in your system should give you no problems however.
