I don't recall ever feeling this frustrated and/or helpless with a computer in my entire life.

[BRO]Alaskan has given me some tips and such through PM's but I don't want to keep bothering him, so I'll just ask publicly.

I've got this dual 4ghz pentium-d machine that could probably have some fun with the SMP client. It's current a windows xp machine. I downloaded openSuse and after a good bit of wasted time trying to install, and reading forums, I found that the intel P965 chipsets by nature are problematic with Suse. It's a fixable situation, but the fix will likely break existing windows installations, which I AM NOT willing to do given the problems I've had with linux thus far.

So on another of [BRO]Alaskan's tips I downloaded fedora core 6 today. Burned the cd's, all checksums match. Ran into THESE PROBLEMS.

So, any suggestions?
 
You might be having errors on install due to the overclock. Maybe set it back to stock and try the instalation again.
 
Ubuntu 6.10 is currently loaded via livecd, and is installing. So long as the isntall takes, gonna try to download the files to fix it as suggested in the "The linux SMP client is owning me" thread. Hopefully can get it finished tonight so I can do some hardcore SMP folding overnight :p

EDIT: K, install didn't work again even though it ran fine in LiveCD mode, starts loading, gets an error. Backtracking, trying to reinstall FC6 again at stock 2.8ghz.
 
And at stock speeds, still get errors (FC6 gave same errors).

Putting it back on windows so it can at least do some work overnight. :(
