earbugs get more bass

i try some earphone from ipod and sony, the sound they produced pretty good: the bass is so so, not very deep. then, i attached their rubber earbugs, sound's heared much more bass (tune nothing on the player) and so dark, mid and high tone do not maintain clear sound. do that happen with whole earbugs?

Unfortunately, most earbuds cannot reproduce the entire audible range accurately. Their physical driver size is much too small to do everything right.

What you did with the rubber earplugs is to seriously bloat the mid-bass to upper bass range - so much that the mids and highs start getting degraded.

Usually people hear more bass when they plug up an earphone to get a tighter seal around the ear. But usually the bass isn't as clean, nor does it get any deeper.

If your interested in earphones like that, look into some that are designed for that type of operation. Sony has an ex-71, which isn't too expensive. I found the mids to be kind of lacking and a little bloat on the bass, but some people like it. If you step up some more to say some Shure e2c or e3c, they are still not exactly audiophile grade stuff yet, but they have varying amounts of bass, but most people say the sound is cleaner and less distorted. The Shure e4c, or the Etymotic 4P/4S is where the entry level for audiophile grade is currently. Those are around $200 to $300.
