I have searched and while some of the FAQ's and such have been helpful i haven't seen these specific issues talked about....Thanx.

When i am ripping a CD with EAC it runs at 4-6x....i have a 16x52x32x52 drive.....

1. Why isn't it ripping faster? My cpu usage isn't high and my ram isn't full so where is the bottleneck?

2. And as for FLAC, when i put the file into winamp(with plugin installed) it wont pull up artist and album properly....how do i create tags for them?

I can create tags via EAC and when i encode via LAME it has proper Artist and Album....so why does FLAC drop those tags? and is there something i can do?

1. Are you using Secure mode?

When you use secure mode the the program reads every sector at least twice, making sure that it is retreiving the correct data.
This obviously slows things down but it is better then having fuxored files. ;)

Here is a how to for FLAC and EAC:
(Copy and pasted from Pedro's)

Encoding/tagging with EAC

Download FLAC 1.1.2 for Windows (tools only) here

menu EAC > EAC Options (F9) > Tools tab:

*On extraction start external compressors queued in the background: Checked
*Use [ 1] simultaneous external compressor thread(s)
*Do not open external compressor window: Checked (leave it unchecked for debugging)

First make sure that: menu EAC > Compression Options (F11) > ...

* Offset tab / Use Offset Correction for encoding and decoding: Unchecked
* ID3 Tag tab / Everything: Unchecked

menu EAC > Compression Options (F11) > External Compression tab:

*Use external program for compression: Checked
*Parameter passing scheme: User Definied Encoder
*Use file extension: .flac
*Program, including path, used for compression: specify path to flac.exe
*Additional commandline options:
-5 -V -T "ARTIST=%a" -T "TITLE=%t" -T "ALBUM=%g" -T "DATE=%y" -T "TRACKNUMBER=%n" -T "GENRE=%m" -T "COMMENT=EAC Flac 1.1.2 -5" %s

*Bitrate: doesn't matter
*Delete WAV after compression: Checked (or leave unchecked - wavs won't be deleted)
*Use CRC check: Checked
*Add ID3 Tag: Unchecked (FLAC has own tags)
*High quality/low quality: doesn't matter

Remember to press shift-F6 (not F6) when ripping, otherwise EAC will not compress/tag!
Also remember not to close EAC immediately after ripping, look at status bar:
The last track might still be compressing.

Thanx....i am giving it a shot.

I dont know what some of those options mean like "check CDC check" or whatever.....but i'm giving it a shot right now to see if it will hold all the tags and go faster. thanx

Do NOT expect it to go faster. The point of EAC is to make a good rip not a fast rip. Sure you could put EAC into burst mode but that would be a very silly thing to do since you negate any of the benefits of using EAC.

I wasn't trying to make it go a million miles an hour, i've got all the time in the world...i was just making sure that its correct at those speeds.

Yes EAC will be slow. If your drive supports C2 errors then enabling that will speed things up, however even if your drive supports C2 very few do it correctly and is usually best to disable C2.
