E8600 release date?

I've been hearing Q3 (which is nearing its end), but other than that nothing else. Does anyone else have any insight or links to confirmed reports. Bottom line should I continue to wait (as it drop the price of the E8500 to that of the E8400) or do I just suck it up and lose a multiplier.

Unless your into benching alot the e8400 is a better choice over the e8600. I'd imagine they will oc to about the same max speed only diff is the e8600 x10 multi which would allow for more fsb/ram combos.

The E8600 starts at 3.33Ghz, so at default, it's faster if you don't mind spending the extra dollars.

IMHO, price doesn't justify the small 333Mhz speed increase over the E8400. Gonna wait and see how the new revision works out (E0 for Wolfdale and R0 for Yorkfield).

Totally agree.

Now, if you are upgrading a motherboard that doesn't overclock.. that's another story.

But having a 10x multiplier vs. the E8400's 9x is somewhat of a bonus for me. Though I think I will settle with the E8500 since I'm not willing to spend more than $200 on a dual-core CPU.
